Are you saying that the Dennis & Bridget Rabbitt you were researching last year, on this thread - are not the right family?
http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?m=29500&p=localit...Also note in that series of messages you stated you had the information on Dennis and Bridget on the 1860 and 1880 censuses in White Plains, Westchester, New York, and that they had no children listed.
There were no children listed on the 1880 census, but there were children on 1870 and 1860.
On the 1870 census:
1870 Census
White Plains, Westchester, New York
(Indexed on ancestry as Damas Rabbett)
Rabbitt, Dennis, 45, m, w, laborer, 4000, 125, Ireland
- Bridget, 42, f, w, Keeps house, Ireland
- Margaret, 16, f, w, at home, New York
(while it doesn't state Margaret is their child, it is likely. No relationships were stated before 1880)
1860 Census
White Plains, Westchester, New York
Dennis Rabbitt, 35, m, day laborer, 1200, 50, Ireland
Nancy, 45, f, Ireland
Margarett, 6, f, NY
Bridget, 14 (??), NY
On this one, I'm pretty sure it's the same family but very likely the names are mixed up. Dennis and Margaret are of similar ages to what they appear on 1870. Nancy and Bridget - I'm not sure about. Could be the names were mixed up. Could be it was a first wife for Dennis. Neither of their ages match the 1870 census for Bridget.
IF (IF IF IF) this is the correct family and the ages for the girls are correct (6 and 14) and IF the place of birth is correct for the girls, the family would have been in New York since about 1845-1846.
A Westchester New York Genealogy site has a naturalization index which includes Dennis:
Naturalization:
If this is the correct family, they would have been in Westchester county, New York by 1854.
Hope this helps a little.
