I noticed an error in Ancestry.com's scan of the 1755 immigration for George/ Gorg Klingenschmidt, etc... It should and does state that he arrived in Philadelphia, PA, Oct. 7, 1755 on the ship, Neptune, George Smith, Master, but Ancestry.com has him placed "on the next ship IN THEIR SUMMARY portion". This may be a problem for all of his fellow travelers, also?!. I just noticed this by accident, since I had collected him from the originals years ago while in PA (my home).
(From book. German Pioneers, p 679-681. which states also that he was a shoemaker.)

Below is George Klingenschmidt's summary; copied directly from my file.

Summary of Johann George Klingenschmidt of Daniel (1692).

Born on April 12, 1734 in Waldhambach, Lutzenstein
(called a Canton), Alsace; at that time, part of Germany.
Or later--- same place, different name,--- Lutzingen, Bas Rhine, France.

Johann George was probably left with other relatives, when his parents Daniel and Anna Christina Reitenhour Klingenschmidt & several of their older children, sailed to America; arriving September 11,1738 in Philadelphia Harbor, out of Rotterdam - Walter Goodman, master. Young George, who remained behind, was only four years old at the time. (1738 was known as the "Year of The Avenging Angel" (book) because of the many diseases that killed thousands while they awaited ships that were to take them to America. The lack of any sanitary facilities and the unbelievable crowds, weakened most of the emigrants even before the voyage.

So, seventeen years later, George, and his wife, Anna Dorothea landed in Philadelphia, on the ship, Neptune, Oct 7, 1755. He was naturalized and stated that he was a shoemaker by trade.("German Pioneers", pages 689-691).

George Klingenschmidt (1734) did not settle near his father , Daniel Klingenschmidt or his cousin, George(1701) Klingensmith's sons Peter (1729) or Phillip (1732). He lived south of them in the more populated area of Chester Co., PA. He probaby lived there because his shoemaker business required a place with more traffic.

George and Anna Dorothea had at least two children, Anna Barbara (1756) and Christian/ Christoph (1759), both baptized at St Michael's Lutheran, sp parents. (See Bapt. Bk 8, Philadelphia Co., PA.)

Christian/ Christoph settled in York Co., PA after the Rev. war (see Pension letter, DAR summary attached); and Anna Barbara and her husband William Bell settled in the1770's just east of Blockhouse Phillip (1732) in the Brush Creek settlement, Hempfield Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA. (See PA Archives land records) Twenty years later the Bell's went to( what was at that time), Spanish Missouri.

Christian Klingenschmidt started to use the name Klinedinst early on while he was in the military. Family name, Klingenschmidt morphed into Klinedinst/Klindurst/ Klinesmit/Klinesmith/ Klinsmit/ Kleindurst, etc. This group first settled in York Co., Union Co.,and later Greene Co., PA.
See the Indian attack and murder of Baltazer Klinesmith, Union Co., PA abt 1782,( Sipes- Indian Wars in PA)

George Klingenschmidt (1734) died probably sometime before 1790. (no info found as yet, but it seems they also resettled in York Co., PA.)
