Hi
Frank Edward Eagles was born in Littledean, Gloucestershire, England on 7th January 1890. He was my grand uncle, the younger brother of my paternal grandmother.
He travelled to the United States in May 1912, accompanied by James Edward Beard, who went on to marry Frank's sister on 25th December 1917. Frank and James both returned to the United Kingdom in 1912.
I know Frank emigrated to the United States but have no idea when and if anyone accompanied him. He vanished from the home of my grandmother at some stage between 1917 and 1919. It was believed that he travelled to Canada with a local woman.
In 1923 Frank was named as co-respondent in a divorce filed by Walter Jane Legg. The respondent was his wife Sarah Jane Legg. It is possible that Sarah travelled to the United States with Frank but I have no evidence of that fact. I have not been able to trace either of them on the US Census collection records.
I have traced Frank's death to Broward County, Florida. He died on 25th February 1985. The death certificate confirmed the details of his parents (my paternal great grandparents) and the details of his widow - Johanna Geraldine Byvank..
Frank and Johanna married on 29th June 1970. Prior to that he had a short marriage to Ann Ridge. He married her on 28th April 1968 and the couple divorced on 25th May 1970 - a month before he married Johanna.
I am convinced that he probably had at least one other marriage but so far, even though I have used the USA website 'Archives' I have been unable to find anything to take me forward.
If anyone can help in respect of his arrival in the USA, who he may have married, children he may have had, date of naturalisation and where he lived I would be very grateful. If it helps I do have his Social Security Number.
It is shown on the death certificate as 428-14-1527. His address at the time of his death was 4831 SW 30th Lane, Ft Lauderdale, FL 33312. He was cremated at Abco Crematory in Ft Lauderdale.
Thank you for taking the time and trouble to read this lengthy message.
Kind regards
Paul
