I noticed you do not have this in the info below. I may have found Carl's death ... not sure though. You'd be the one to know better:
Social Security Death Index
Name: Carl Dennis
SSN: 279-05-3031
Born: 16 Sep 1900
Died: Feb 1965
State (Year) SSN issued: Ohio (Before 1951)
The birth DAY is off by a few days, but the rest seems to add up. This could have been an error on the original SS application (not surprising). The biggest issue here is that it does not say WHERE he died. But there are only 3 "Carl Dennis'" in the SSDI, and the others don't seem to match up for where it was issued. :-(
Live Vaudeville is practically gone by the 1950's, with the introduction of TV, and I don't find anything in "Billboard" on HIM after May 1954. Apparently, he was the Executive Secretary of Detroit local AGVA (American Guild of Variety Artists). Here's the URL for them ... perhaps if you contact them, they may have some historical info on Estelle. It seems the AGVA started up in 1939 -- anything is possible.

Good luck!
