I find a 1930 census record for Michigan State for an Edith Hirst, born about 1877 England, and husband William S. Hirst, born about 1878 England, son Jesse born about 1919 England. This family stated they emigrated in 1925.

This family is found in California in later years: Edith Hirst, born 4 May 1876 in England, Spouse William A., son Jesse A., declared intent for citizenship in Los Angeles in 1939. She wrote she was born in Rochdale, England, married William 10/29/05 in Rochdale. William was born at Wetherby, England, in 1877.

If this is the correct family, there is a family tree here on Ancestry.com posted by "jurrud2". This person lists son Jesse as their only child and no spouse or offspring for Jesse.
