For a very long time I have been searching for information on an ancestor James HAMMOND. He was born in Arkesden, Essex, England in 1836 and emmigrated to Australia in 1854. He married and had two children in New South Wales but in 1864 or thereabouts he disapears. His family remained in NSW and his wife re-married in 1872.
Today I received an e-mail from Ancestry to say that a possible match for him has been found in the 1900 US Census. I don't know how reliable this is as Ancestry.com may just be touting for business as I have to upgrade my subscription to read the US Census. However, there may just be a bit of truth in it and James did actually move on to the United States.
I was hoping that some kind soul would be able to check it out for me. I don't know how the 1900 Census is sorted but I'm looking for James HAMMOND age 64 b. Arkesden, Essex, England.
Thank you
