Re: Los Cinco Senores, Santander Jimenez, Tamaulipas
Hello, I saw this posting and I had to respond. My great-grandfather, Demetrio Salazar, had family originally from Jimenez, which was Los Cinco Senores, Santander, though he found his way to Alice and Kingsville, Texas. His brothers were Guadalupe and Calixto. I was given the name Trinidad, possibly their father from Alice. The other name I was given was Marcos, supposedly from Jimenez. Demetrio married Nepumosena (Chenita) Montalvo from Mier and their child, my grandfather, Armando ended up in with a son in Kingsville, Texas. If any of this this sounds familiar, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Los Cinco Senores, Santander Jimenez, Tamaulipas
Hello there, I am so sorry, I couldn't make any connections to any of the names you provided. it seems that the area in and around Santander was a strong hold for the salazar surname. there are a great many from that area that have migrated north. my own line of salazar came from that area, Garza-Valdez, Villagran. they too moved north into Texas. although not into kingsville, they did live in the area of banquete and robstown. thank you so much for the reply, and the info you provied. i do hope that you do make a connection with other salazares. I note that one of your surnames is Arce, which is my maternal grandmothers maiden name. Some of her family is from Burgos, at least one sister married a Trevino from there and another married a Pompa. Others ended up in South Texas. Other surnames on her side are Gonzalez, Villarreal, Flores. Where is your connection?

Re: Los Cinco Senores, Santander Jimenez, Tamaulipas
My Dad lived in Santander Jimenez, Tamaulipas about 13 yrs ago and I visited him several times for extended periods of time. He managed a huge rand and I helped him during summer. The Church is still there, I don't remember if it is still in operation, but I suggest that you go there and visit is a nice little old town, one of the first towns in Tamaulipas. They have several old buildings and as I said the church is still there. Jimenez is about a 3 hour drive from either Reynosa, Matamoros or Nuevo Progreso, Tamps.

Re: Los Cinco Senores, Santander Jimenez, Tamaulipas
Cesar, do you know where I might be able to find historical information about this town? Many of my Saldivar and De la Rosa ancestors originated there in the early 1800s. I need to know who was involved in the forming of this town. Thanks for any information anyone can give me.

Re: Los Cinco Senores, Santander Jimenez, Tamaulipas
Hi Refugio, The following link has the history of Santander Jimenez: http://www.jimenez.gob.mx/municipio.aspSome of my wife's ancestors were Christened at Los Cinco Senores in the early 1800s. They lived in Santo Domingo, Tamaulipas which fell under its jurisdiction. A census of the town was done in 3 Sep 1750 which provides a good reference for the first/early families. I don't see any de la Rosa families in it. I see one person with the Saldivar surname listed and 12 people with the surname Zaldivar. Dwain Hicks
