Re: Ortega from Pitiquito, Sonora
Chris Quiroz-Rodriguez I was going thru the message board, and read you request on the Ortega's, Inez, Eugenio Quiroz. Francisco Ortega was my g.g. Tata, he was my g-Nana Amparo Ortega, and she was my Nana's madre. And Inez was Amparo sister. Cipriano you mention my Nana had an uncle by that name, bother to Francisco. If possible you can send me a copy of picture(s)? Lachie

Re: Ortega from Pitiquito, Sonora
My grandmother Rosa Sotelo was from or had family in Pitiquito. She married Francisco Quiroz Y Mora from Caborca. Since the towns were so small and are so close, it is likely we are related.
I was in Pitiquito about 10 years ago with a tour from Tucson run by the Ronstadts. The church was locked be we were able to get in. Like most of the old churches in Mexico, it was in bad need of maintenance. The purpose of the Ronstadt tours was to raise money for the preservation of the churches but it is too dangerous now to enter the area so the tours are no longer run.
My grandmother on my fathers side was Concepcion Lamadrid. She was born in Caborca about 1855. There are no Lamadrids in the Caborca phone book but my guess is that the Lamadrids shorted the name to Madrid.
There is a town in northern Spain by the name of Lamadrid. I went there last month but there were no Lamadrids there. There was an abundance of Lamadrids in a near by town.
Do you know anything about the Lamadrids or of the Caius families in that area. My great grandmother maiden name was Caius. She married my great grand father Dr. Alexander Richards a surgeon in Caborca.
Unfortunately all my relative in the US that could help are dead now.
Any information you have will be appreciated.

Re: Ortega from Pitiquito, Sonora
Hi Henry, I saw your post about the tours by the Ronstadt Family. I was wondering if you have an E-mail address or phone # for the Ronstadt's? My Mother's was related to the Ronstadt's and Redondo's through the Soto Family from Sinaloa, Mexico. My Mother actually lived with the Ronstadt's first I believe in 1911 (she was 7 yrs old) then in 1917 and finally in 1922, her Father kept insisting that she live in Mexico and not the USA, but in 1922 she stayed in the USA. Her Cousin was Leo Carrillo (the movie star), her Family first entered Alta Californira in the late 1700's, to establish Mission San Diego, Mission San Juan Capistrano (in 1776, that's our home town), Mission Santa Barbara, the Cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco just to mention a few. Here are some of the Surnames from her family: Carrillo, Ortega, Soto, Cota, Lopez, Monreal, Ruiz, Alvarardo, Redondo, Ronstadt, Feliz, Felix, Esquero, Valenzuela and many more. Her Sister was Manuela Soto de Solis b-1908 died in McAllen,Texas,USA in 1978 (I'm positive that any of the Ronstadt's would know who she was). Thanks Ed Romero

Re: Ortega from Pitiquito, Sonora
My maternal grandmother Carmenla Yrigogen, was born (1890) in Pitiquito, Sonora. Her maiden name was Lizarraga. She married Francisco Arriola Felix in 1912. Amelia Celaya de Lizarraga was Carmela's sister-in-law. Francisco A. Felix and Amelia's husband, Ramon A. Felix were brothers.
I would enjoy seeing that picture since I am always researching our family ancestors.
