Hi,
My name is Bertha Gastelum and I am looking for my fathers family. Unfortunately he passed away in December of 1988 in a car accident and I never met him because my mother was pregnant with me at the time. I have not been able to reach any of his family at all but my mother says he was from Las Higueras De Los Monzon Badriguato, Sinaloa. His name was Damasio Gastelum Soto. If you have any information or if this sounds familiar please reply.

Looking for descendants of the Arce family, pre-1800, in Sinaloa. Two Arce brothers went to Baja California as soldiers mid-1700s. Their father is Francisco Pereda y Arce and mother is given as Rosa Lopez. Hoping to locate male Arces to possibly test for the Y signature but would like to find any one who might have descended from the Arce family that stayed on the mainland instead of going to Baja or Alta California.

Also interested in whether the Arce surname is a shortened version of the name Arceo.

Greeks in Sinaloa

I am trying to locate information on the Greek community in Culiacan. My Great Grandfather went to Culiacan around the turn of the century and married a woman from Culiacan. They later came to Arizona where she died of T.B.

I have found information on Great Aunts (her sisters) and ship's registry for one sister coming back to L.A.

Her name was Manuela Beltram (Jose Beltram / Beneranda Rios Monzan) She had a sister named Guillerma and a sister named Leonarda, a brother named Raymundo.

His name was Athanasios Thomas Liapis

They had 4 children (that I know of)Helen was born in Mexico, George, Chris adn Paul were born in U.S.

Domingo Soto, Alejandra Ortega Soto, Mical Soto, all lived and died in Lake Elsinore,Riverside Co,Ca 1877 to 1945.
My Mother's ancestors are: Raimundo Carrillo y Tomas Lugo, Maria Tomas Ignacia Lugo, Francisco Lugo, Juana Maria Martinez, Maria Josefa Soto Sotomayor, Jose Francisco de Ortega. I'm only interested in locating living members of my Mother and Aunt or Domingo Soto's family. Thanks for any help.

Hello,

I have been researching the Gastelum family and have found variations in writing as Castelo, Gastelo, Gastelu.

As for your "Juana Rojo Vida de Castelo" the last name probably is just "Rojo" and not "Rojo Vida" I think that the "Vida" is an abbreviation or misspelling of VIUDA (widow) so she would be "Juana Rojo widow of (viuda de)Castelo"

My GF Pascual Y. Paredes was born 1876 in Valle Tecupeto, Sahuaripe, Sonora, Mexico. His parents were Samuel Jimenez Paredes (1860) & Clemencia Guerrero Duarte (1860). GGF Salomen Jimenz Paredes GGM Jesus Jimenez (1860). I don't if I have these names correct. Does anyone have any information on families in this area. I obtained this information from my GF birth record.
GM was Rufina Ortega her father was Antonio Ortega & Mother Trinadad Quijada who I think may have been from the same area. But Rufina & Pascual married in Douglas, Arizona, in 1917, so I don't know if they knew each other from the same town or just happened to meet in Arizona.

Ybarra/Rojo/Castelo/Chavez

I am looking for information on the families of several family members.

Mucia Ybarra (b around 1850) married Bartollo Rojo. I do not know anything about who their families are. I only know of one child of theirs, but it is possible that there were more.

Their child was Juana Rojo Vida (1872) who married someone named Castelo, but he must have died somewhat early in life, because when I start finding documents on her (Boarder Crossings) around 1917 or so, it says she is 45, widowed, and goes by Juana Rojo Vida de Castelo. Of her children, I only know of my great grandmother: Enriquetta Castelo (1899). She would move to Phoenix Arizona.

She went on to marry John W Lewis from New Mexico. They had many children, of them Anita Lewis (1923), who married Gustav Verrue Chavez (1921). Gustav was one of many children of Mike (Miguel?) Real Chavez (1896) and Anita Verrue (1901). Mike left the family when his children were all still very young, and nothing much is known about him. On documents he has signed, he says he was born in Arizona, but I believe it is possible that he was born in Mexico.

Any information on any of these families would be incredibly helpful.

I don't have much regarding Alarcon and Rivera, but I hope you find this interesting. In 1567 five 5 spaniards from Extremadura, Espana shipwrecked off the coasts of Sinaloa founded Aguacaliente de Garate; amongst them were marquez Don Juan Jose Garate, Don Jose Gabriel Valdez, Don Antonio Maria Lizarraga, Osuna and Tirado. my great-grandfather was Ignaciao Guerra Lizarraga b. 1862 married to Domitila Valdez Garate. My family tree going back many generations, I have found Garate and Lizarraga. Somewhere down the line I'm sure we're related. Hope you find this interesting.

My family includes a number of Beltrans from Rosario & Chametla. My branch moved to Mazatlan about 1880 from Chametla, but some Beltrans remained in Rosario, but I don't know about them. The earliest names from the 1700s include Nasario. Ysidro, Victor and many others. What other names have you? What dates pertain to each? Church records for Rosario are readily available.

Others include Lorenzo, Tomas, Matias and Juan Ramirez Beltran.

My father is Jose Miguel Buelna born 9/16/41 the yr is a guess, he died in 2007, his father (my grandfather) is Esteban Ramirez Buelna born 8/10/1905-9/1974, Im looking to find out who my great grand father is. Hi. I saw your trip to Guatemala on Facebook. It looked wonderful.
According to Uncle Rudy's Social Security application from 1936, his father's name was Macario Vasquez. Using that info on Family Search, the Mormon site, I was able to find out more info on my dad's mom, Elvira Guadalupe Adelaida Nunez. She was born in 1863. She was married to Macario Vasquez. They had five kids before my dad was born to Elvira. They were Maria Ana Vasquez (Anita), Maria Clara Vasquez (Clarita), Jose Mario Vasquez, Maria del Carmen and Maria Magdalena Vasquez (Ena). My dad's Social Security application states that his father was Vincente Nunez. Since her maiden name was Nunez, she may had an affair with a relative? Despite giving birth to my dad, Macario stays with her and they have Uncle Rudy, who is the youngest.

I just had a huge breakthrough on grandma Amanda's side, so now I'm back trying to see if I can unearth anything on grandpa Vincent's side. I have the same info for the border crossing. Maria Estella was one of your dad's sisters. Mom says Vincent was the youngest. He had several older sisters. Anita, Clarita, Ena and Maria Estella, so I guess Maria had come to the States with Rudy and Vincent and Elvira was coming to visit them.

I'm from El Verde, and as far as I can tell the Lizarragas and Granados are some of the oldest names in El Verde. A lot of them moved to Mazatlan and are very succesfull there. The Lizarragas own the coffe processing plant named Cafe el Marino and the Granados are into commerce with clothing and supplies stores also Miguel Angel Granados is a well known politician in Mazatlan with the PRI party. You should try searching Granados on face book from Mazatlan for all Granados there might come from El Verde originally. Hope this helps.

Yes, I am a frequent user of the microfilm images from FamilySearch.org. I just want to see if there might be other researchers who have common blood lines, to make it easier, and to see if there are any photos they might be able to share. Thanks for the input, though!
