Help Finding Information On Jose Palacios, born in Chihuahua, Mexico 1900?

Classification: Query
Surnames: Palacios
Hi there! My name is Nancy Lynn Palacios and I live in Lake Oswego, Oregon (outside of Portland, Oregon). My married last name is Palacios whereby my husband, Donald Rey Palacios, Jr., has VERY little information about his father's side of the family. My father-in-law's name is Donald Rey Palacios, Sr. and he was born in 1949 in upstate New York, Niagagra Falls/Buffalo, etc. On his birth certificate, his mother's name was stated as Margaret Wilson (from Canada) and his father's name was stated as Jose Palacios (originally from Mexico noted above).

Jose passed in 1978 in Lackawanda, NY.

My Father-in-Law's mother, Margaret, left he and his brother Victor right after dad was born. It is beleived she went back to Ontario???? Jose could not deal with any of it and gave-up my father-in-law, Donald Rey Palacios, Sr. and his brother Victor. These two young boys were split up and did not grow-up together. Both of them were either adopted or fostered....it is a huge hush hush type of thing and no one will talk about it.

I'm trying to find out anything at all possibly remote about Jose and/or Margaret. I'm not sure if they were married. I do not have any record of how Jose got from Mexico to the US and then to NY?

I heard a story that possibly Margaret Wilson was not her real name and that she was unfortunately, 'a lady of the evening' who came over from Canada to NY all the time for work? I have no clue if this is true or not but if it gleans any kind of clue for me from any of you, it is worth it.

My husband, Jr., is young and has a lot of health issues and he had a tough childhood himself whereby he has no sense of family really. I'm trying so very hard to find anything at all but can't get anywhere. Sr. would love (deep down in his heart) to know who his parents were and etc. But, I'm primarily trying to help my husband and I who are completely open to wanting to know the truth.

I beg of you for any help at all...We do not pronounce our name as the hispanic version of Palacios but more as rhyming with 'gracious' -- it was thought that when Jose came to the states, he wanted to hide that he was Mexican and to have his last name sound more Italian? I have no clue as to why we pronounce our name differently but it is what it is.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help if you can. I'm at my witts end and am almost at a point of giving up.

Thank you for your time in listening to my story and thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Sincerely and most graciously,
Nancy Lynn Palacios
