I am searching for any information on the Romero Family, descendants of Matias Romero who served under Portifiro Dias.
I do know of one such family member, Pepe Romero, who was a 'society' journalist in Mexico City in the 80's/90's(?) and whom my now deceased cousin met several times.

We live in Nuevo Vallarta part of the year and now have a lovely Mexican daughter-in-law and I would dearly like to know relatives of my father's family and learn more about my Mexican heritage.

I too am researching Matias Romero. My Great Grandfather Juan Romero was born in Sebolleta, New Mexico, about 1820. I know Matias had a brother Jose, and there is also a nephew Jose (1871-1956), but I have no names for any other decendants. Based on my research Matias Romero may have been Juan's Uncle. If there is a connection, I also have a very good story about Juan Romero (a true american pioneer).

I would be very glad to exchange info to see if we can discover new information.

Surnames: Bolton, Romero
My father Whitney Bolton was a journalist in the 40s 50s and 60s, Who was raised in Mexico City and Toluca,Mexico of American parents from 1900-1915. He kept numerous ties with Mexico and our family lived in Valle de Bravo during the summer in 1954 and 1955. My father had a friend who if I'm not mistaken was called Pepe Romero, who I recall we visited in his home in Mexico City, I believe he was a journalist also. But he would not be the society journalist you refer to , he would or could be his father, or uncle or unrelated. That's all I can tell you. I am in the process of researching my fathers history there and intend to visit and do some research in Mexico City next summer. Good luck on your search,

I should add that Pepe Romero, the journalist Whitney Bolton knew published his autobiography entitled Mexican Jumping Bean, published by Putnam &Sons in 1953. I think its available in one of the online sites like a Google Books. No doubt it would include a lot of information about Roneros background,
