i have just begun researching nevarez from tepehuanes, durango. i am researching jose mateo de jesus married to maria trinidad mesa about 1860. I have found much information going back to 1730 or so but where are the earliest nevares from? They seem to be from the Presidio. Does anyone have any idea of the history of the Presidio?per the family history catalog the earliest baptism are 1722. does anyone know if there are earlier records. has anyone done research in this area?
