Salinas-Gomez-Ramirez, Zaragoza/Piedras Negras, Coahuila

So I am on a big mission doing my family tree on my mother and fathers side. Which is extremely hard.

My maternal grandparents are Maria Cristina Ramirez (born Feb 6th, 1933), and Rafael S. Gomez(born Feb 4th, 1929). Now the name Salinas is apparently a family name thats linked to Eagle Pass. Some other family relatives said we are of the Salinas family that either founded, or helped build or something with Eagle Pass. The Salinas name I believe is coming from my grandfather Rafael S. Gomez.

Rafael S. Gomez is the son of Eusebia Salinas. Rafael Gomez also has siblings, and they are: Elida, Zulema, Antonio, Salvador, Alicia, Guadalupe, and Oscar. So Eusebia's Mother is Josefa Salinas, and Josefa's father is Felipe Salinas. Now from what I understand, I've been able to find out, is that the farthest back I can go is Felipe's parents are both Librada Gomez de Salinas, and her husband Marcelino Salinas, roughly puts them in the 1820s or so.

Hopefully you all can understand that. lol. So thats pretty much where I am in my search for the Gomez-Salinas line. I dont have very much on the Gomez name. But all I know is that my grandpa Rafael Gomez lived in Zaragoza, Coahuila, but the family came from Eagle Pass and Hacienda Patino, which I know my relatives from there were mixed with Kickapoo/Kikapu Indian, and Spanish blood. my grandma Maria Cristina Ramirez is from Piedras Negras. Now both my grandparents have been to each others towns, so if there are Gomez and Ramirez families in those towns, then maybe you can try to connect some dots with my info. :)

I have researched births and deaths and found Elalio Perez's death cert in Gomez Palacio, Mexico but not birth record. There were also married in San Pedro in 1880.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.2.1/9JHY-KRG
I WANTED TO SEE DOCUMENTS FROM WHICH THIS ENTRY WAS MADE.
Hello Anthony, i noticed your post on the other subject regarding the site for the registro civil, this site works for any births for the state of Coahuila, for the site to pull the information the individual should had been register with their local registro civil, must people in the early to middle 1900's were not registered until their older years, Do you know if your grandma emmigrated to the US as a child? if this was the case the chance for her to have a birth certificate are slim, but you can also try the parish records for the town of torreon, matamoros, gomez palacios and parras de la fuente.

http://www.registrocivilcoahuila.gob.mx/Verificacion/Nacimie...

hello were able to find out for me to see if the film or information was available for me.? i know the years are kind of off on Family Search.org

According to her Border Crossing her name was Dora Barrientos-Meza born June 6 1926 in Torreon,Coahulia

Her Death Certificate in California says her birthdate was May 19, 1926

So 1926 is her birth year but she has 2 different birth dates, its confusing to me.

Not too long ago I thought I saw where that microfilm was online. I will check and see if I can find it again and let you know if it is available.

Hello - thanks for the additional info - that's why i asked for the information about when she immigrated as a child or adult, more than likely she does not have a Mexican Birth Certificate , for example my great grandfather Luis del Bosque was born 1904 but was not register with the Mexican Goverment "Registro Civil" until 1940, your grandma might have a baptism record from the catholic church, I'll search for that one. Thanks!

I would like to offer some help on your research of your family records, i checked the regitro civil website for the State of Coahuila ( http://www.registrocivilcoahuila.gob.mx/Verificacion/Nacimie... ) and i wasn't able to find the birth certificate, are you sure on the date? Did she had a middle name ? do you know if she immigrated as a child to the states ? Most people in Saltillo during the early 1900's were not registered with the State therefore there was not birth certificate ever issued and the only proof of birth would had been the baptism record. The reason why you will not find information on the 1930 census for Mexico is due to the fact that the Census for Saltillo were destroyed or they are missing and they were never recorded.

Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with me.

Everything I know about Jesús Acuña is based upon what little my mother could remember and what I have been able to piece together through research. My mother was about one year old when Jesús Acuña was killed in Mexico and neither her nor my grand mother ever met him. All they knew about him was what my great grand mother told them about him which was very little and from the one photo of him that she had kept. I believe that Jesús Acuña must have met my great grandmother - Margarita Ramirez - while he was a student in Mexico City, since my grandmother's birth date of 1911 coincides with that date. Jesus Acuna and my great grandmother were not to the best of my knowledge ever married which could be when she left Mexico for the United States not long after my grandmother was born. Unlike today situations like that were not viewed lightly.

All that I was told about Jesús Acuña was that he was a lawyer who may have been involved in the Mexican Revolution that that he was killed sometime before my mother was born - that and one old photo that had been enlarged forma newspaper story. Since then I have put together a fairly complete outline of his life from various historical sources. Such sources tell a story in a rather dry way and really don't substitute for true family history. I have found several nice photographs of him in old publications and even the Library of Congress. Have you seen that images which I posted on my family tree?

As far as I know there was never any direct contact between Jesús Acuña and my great grandmother while he was still alive - at least none that she ever related to anyone. Sometime after his death my great grandmother received some legal documents from Mexico that related to that event. My great grandmother was fearful of returning to Mexico to look into the documents and instead entrusted a acquaintance to do this for her. She signed the paperwork and it and the acquaintance were never seen again. We can only assume that perhaps Jesus Acuna had willed some money to his daughter but we will never know for sure.

If you have any information or photographs regarding Jesús Acuña that you might be will to share I would be greatly appreciated as would my mother and my aunt - his two granddaughters by Margarita. As I mentioned I have quite a few photos of him in my tree here at ancestry.com that you may or may not have seen before but feel free to look and use any that you like. I also have copies of a set of papers that were put together by the Justice Department while Jesús Acuña was living in Austin, Texas after an assassination attempt was made on him around 1915 in Mexico City. Since he was so heavily involved in the Revolution they wanted to keep an eye on him so the Justice Department's Bureau of Investigation (the forerunner of the FBI) built up a file on him which makes interesting reading.

thank you again for getting in touch,

Ed
Just getting started on my family tree on my mom's side. She is of Mexican heritage born in Waco, McClennan Coounty, Texas. The info I have compiled so far is not verified, so if you have anything that sounds similar, I'd like to hear from you.

My grandfather was Florentino Joseph Barron. Florentino Barron was born abt 1910 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. His father was Claro Barron who was b. Mexico abt. 1885, arrived in US in 1912 and living in Waco, Texas in 1930. I do not know his mother's name. Sometime after 1948, Florentino Barron when to live in Chicago, with a brother and his father Claro (I think).

My grandmother was Margaret Arechiga, who married Florentino Barron in Waco TX in 1935. They were divorced in around 1948. Margaret's mother was Agostina "Mary" Flores. I do not know Margaret's father's name (___ Arechiga). Margaret Arechiga's siblings were (sisters) Clara, Mary, Tomie, Betty, Frances and Adela, and (brothers) Dan, Frankie, Fred and Richard.

Agostina "Mary" Flores' parents were Frances Cardenas and maybe Marcello Flores (?). Frances Cardenas father was Bats "Po" Cardenas (Bats - perhaps a diminutive form of Bartolome). My family has a picture of this man -- He may have been from Spain.

Any info you have to share would be greatly appreciated.
Hello Edward,

Jesús Acuña Narro, your great grandfather, happens to be my maternal great grandfather, too. What a surprise it was to read about your great grandmother. I don't think many people in the family knew about her existence. Was Jesús Acuña married to Abuelita Queque when your grandmother was born?
I would love to hear your side of the story. Did Jesus Acuña Narro remain in contact with Carmen Acuña Ramirez?

Roberto Acuña Rodríguez was my grandfather. He died when I was about 7 years old. His brother Servando, who passed away a few years ago, was married to my grandmother's sister.
Hi, my grandfather's name was Hijino Caudillo and we believe this might be him. My dad received a picture from him taken 2/20/1919 in detroit, mi. Do you have any pictures of him so we can confirm?
