So good to find the info in this thread: I'm just now finding ancestors in Valle de San Bartolome and putting the info in my database: Grado and Olguin in the mid 1700s. The earliest couple may have been Julian de Olguin married to Maria Mathiana Armendaris. By the late part of the century, my family had moved north to Jimenez.

Hello everyone!

I've posted this before but I am in SERIOUS need of helping finding information on my grandfather. My grandfather's name was Teodoro Mata Enriquez. His mother was Juliana Enriquez and his father Alfonso Mata. I have no idea where my grandfather originated from, although it is known he met my grandmother in a bar on the outskirts of Monterrey. Please if you have any information please contact me!

Blake Mata
houseofblake23@yahoo.com

The godparents did not lead me very far.
Antonio Parra is my direct line for my Grandmother.Wenseslada Parra, she was born in 1905. I had two different lines that led back to Antonio parra, one with his first wife another with his second. If you need more i will look into my notebook.

Hello, Melanie

If your search is from San francisco de Borja ,Chihuahua, then maybe it is from the same family?
What I suspect of Maria Thersa Olguin, she is from Valle de rosario and she is Antonio's second wife. His first wife was Juana Rosalia Lozano. He had relatives in that area and his deceased wife also had family there.
I suspect Thomas Olguin and Gertrudis Carrasco for her parents. I do not have any proof of that and that is where my search ended.
For Antonio Parra I believe his parents were, Francisco Parra and Thomasa Ribera.
For Juan Antonio Guerra I have proof his parents were Juan Guerra and Juana Josepha Lopes. They married in Carichic 30 Sept. 1760.
IF you see a connection let me know or if you have more information.

M.R. Escalante: My mom's granduncle was General Luis E. Torres. There is a question mark in our photo album about his marriage to his wife,Amelia Monteverde (no children from this marriage), as being a possible 2nd marriage. Amelia Monteverde was the sister of my mom's grandmother, Delores (Monteverde) Grunig. My mom lived with the general, his wife (Amelia Monteverde Torres), and his niece, Amelia Carricarte, in his home on Westlake Ave. in Los Angeles for the last 2 years of his life. When he died (2 years after his wife), my mom's aunt, Amelia Carricarte, returned to her husband in Mexico with her 3 children, but could not bring my mom and her siblings, so they became wards of the state and moved to SF where they grew up in foster homes. If you'd like more information, you may contact me at vaishville@sbcglobal.net

I am doing geneology research on the Guerra family. I can trace it back to Maria Theresa Olguin also. Can you give me any information on her tree? I have her down as marrying Antonio Parra, and a daughter named Apolonia Parra marrying Juan Antonio Guerra. I have traced the Guerra line back to Antonio Guerra and Maria Theresa Olguin. It sounds very close.

The family kept the last name of Cano. Many of the Cano's were in New Mexico, my family are descendents of Blas Cano's brother Antonio.

I literally have hundreds of cousins, most of them now in southern California.

There is a book (in spanish) titled Del Chihuahua colonial by Salvador Trevino published in 2000. It has a chapter devoted to Blas Cano, and provides some family details. It can be read on-line at the following web address:

http://books.google.com/books?id=hqXCHIdAZRgC&printsec=f...

See pages 27, 28, and 29

I have some family details to the late 1500's that my father's cousin (Sam Cano) sent me.

I was hoping to find the missing generation to prove that we are descendents of Montezuma. His daughter (Isabel) married Juan Cano after 1525 and had 3 sons.

Miguel was my son's grandfather's (Socorro Trillo)uncle. The story came down that there were 3 brothers and that Socorro's father played the trumpet but we never knew his name. Socorro's mother was Rafaela Diaz and she brought him over the border into the US in 1914 when he was 3. If you think this might be the same family, please contact my son, Keith Trillo @ kiethtrillo@hotmail.com - he would love to make contact!

Hi Jorge
Its nice To address you by your first name. I should have given you all the information I have regarding family on my mothers side. I am sixty eight (68) years old and to this day I'm sorry to say, I never got much information about my mothers family. So the following is what I have been able to find out. Nicolas Holguin Sr. born 1846 in Parral, Chihuahua. Rosario Holguin born 1886 in Jimenez, Chihuahua. Nicolas Holguin Jr. born 1896 in Jimenez, Chihuahua all entered the United States in July of 1916 via El Paso, Texas. I think they had come briefly in May of that year, but officially were here in July. They were accompanied by the daughters of Rosario Holguin and Donaciano Barajas. Their names were, Soledad Barajas born 1912 in Jimenez, Chihuahua. Norberta Barajas born 1914 in Jimenez. Chihuahua. and a nephew to Donaciano Barajas by the name of Jose Porras born 1907 in Jimenez, Chihuahua. All this information was found in border crossing documents from Mexico to the United States.
To my knowledge Mrs. Holguin was mother to my uncle Julian Barajas born 1903 in Jimenez, Chihuahua. And my Mother Elvira Barajas born 1913 in Santa Rosalia, Chihuahua. Where they were when the rest of the family came across the border I do not know!!! From little bits an pieces I've heard through the years, Mrs. Holguin died when my mother (Elvira Barajas) was an infant. My mother was placed in a Catholic orphanage, I believe in El Paso, Tx. My grandfather (Donaciano Barajas) who worked at the ASRCO Smelter Plant, remarried and accompanied by his wife and my uncle Julian moved to Calif. in the early 1920's . Some time later. my uncle Julian, traveled back to Texas. And brought my mother to Calif. As stated in my first posting. I hope this information helps you in your quest, as well as mine. Until the next time God bless.

Hello
Read your message of Luz Holguin. If you think her family and mine could have a connection. I would like to continue corresponding with you. Most of my mothers Family (the Holguin's) came from Jimenez, Chihuahua. My mother was born in Santa Rosalia. Her fathers name (my grandfather) was Donaciano Barajas. Her mother Rosario Holguin ( my grandmother ) died when my mother was young. My mother was placed in a catholic orphanage. I don't know if it was in Ciudad Juarez, or El Paso Tx. If you think this information links up with Mrs. Luz Holguin's family, let me know! Until then, good luck, and God bless you, and your family.
