Luis

I got some communication working with Leland and Iris via Email.

I will keep you "in the loop" via Email traffic.

It looks very promising, our cousins seem very well informed and competent, and we will be able to fill the voids of our ancestors and get our cousins up to date on our line of the family.

I will send some stuff to you tomorrow.

My grand mother namer was Carmen (Carmela) Cobos, she was born around 1890 ish.
My father always tells me we come from Torreon MX, but I would like to know if there is a relation you may know on your information.
She moved I understand with her parents to el salvador, or they moved and then she was borned... that is what I know about the Cobos side of my family.... there is a lot of Cobos in El Salvador.
Thanks.

Dear Raul, I hope that you still use this message board. My great uncle, an Armendariz, was among other things, an excellent stone mason in chihuahua . He told us that are family was from the basque region in Spain and he made one of his sons a family coat of arms.

I do understand the rules of how these arms are inherited, that is why I found it interesting when my cousin showed my what his father had made. Unfortunately, my uncle was never asked how he knew this information . He made it out of plaster.

In doing my family research I of course looked up Armendariz arms and there it was over and over again. I then saw a different posting of yours and there it was again.

I have traced my family back until the 1700's but I'm stuck in making the exact Spain -Mexico connection. I keep coming back to Bernado Ascue y Armendaris as a maybe because of the dates and the where he arrived . He had two wives and it appears about nine children. At one point it seemed Pedro Armendaris was a contender with his land grant and all, but the dates did not match.

My last family names found are: Miguel Armendaris Born 1777-1837, Santa Crus de Rosales, Chihuahua M- Maria Martina Sanchez-b 1788-?, mission Santa Crus de Rosales, Chihuahua
It appears he remarried after Martina's death.

Miguel's father:

Jose Armendaris-b 1755-?, Santa Crus de Rosales, Chihuahua
M-Maria Arenivar-b 1757-?, Santa Crus de Rosales, Chihuahua .

I would like to ask if any of these names appear on you tree?

I have been to LDS and so far they are stuck too.

Your input would be most appreciated since I know how much work you have dedicated.

Gracias

I am so sorry but I could find no conection to my tree. My ancestors go back to the late 1700's in the El Paso area. I went as far as to check the 1840 census. There I found alot of Olguin, non spelled with am H. The scribes also spelled Hidalgo with an I and a Y. Good luck! I know how frustrating it is not to find someone.

We're related. My great-great grandfather, Manuel Armendariz, was your great grandfather's brother.
