Is Cosio surname of Russian origin?

My maternal grandfather was Santiago Nunez Cosio. He was born July 25,1898 and died July 1984. He was born in Baja California. He had relatives in Ensenada and I remember one of his nieces always used to say that the Cosio's were of Russian descent. I googled the Cosio Coat of Arms and indeed it indicated that the Cosio surname is of Russian descent and that the orig. name means "metalworker" in Greek. My grandfather's birth certif. states that his father was a blacksmith so there seems to be some correlation. Can anyone expound on that? Im just curious.

Absolutely not Russian ! The surname is of Roman orgin and is one of the oldest surnames of Europe and latin America . Aname Cossium appears in Aquitania , now France in ancient times. I have too much information. Anyway , the Cosio/Nunez come from Santiago, Baja California Sur. Call me if you want to 626 421-0447. I have all the history.
