I have compiled alot of info thru the yrs on early Baja families and have a problem with the Arce brothers -Sebastion and Jose Gabriel -1750s-1830s-sur and norte.....Crosby says Sebastion's son was the Jose Ygnacio Arce who was the "founder" of the Arces in Baja Calif. Norte,,,yet in Northrup's book, she states that Jose Gabriel Arce is the father of this Jose Ygnacio Arce who lived and had children at Mission San Fernando (Velicata), San Telmo areas of Baja Norte. I would like to get this straightened out for my records and tend to lean towards Crosby's records but want input from others. Crosby, I believe, had access to more records than Northrup and since his first area of expertise here is Baja California history I want to go with his info. HELP!!!

ALSO I am working on the Villavicencio family (Baja sur and norte-Jose Rosas V.) that is so tied in with the Arces of the same time period. Thanks!!!!

Dear relative, my grandmother Adelaida Aguilar Villavicencio was greatniece of Jose Rosa. I have the vital record, when he was present in the civil register of the birth of Adelaida.
I am using the Personal Ancestral File. I know that Jose Rosa discovered a mine circa 1868, I have interest to change data.

This is the most information I have ever read about the Arce's. There seems to be a lot of data about Arce's from Puerto Rico and Mexico. I am from Ecuador. I was in Spain and the Arce name is not as common as I thought. The American Arce's must be from one clan or family in Spain. It would be nice to go back a little further and find out where they all migrated from and if they are closely related.

I will be heading to Baja in a couple of weeks. I may be stopping in San Telmo to dig up an old friend. Do you want me to make inquiries for present-day family?

Hi TB,
Have you tried to ask Harry? I have exchanged emails with him not too long ago... Ed Vernon and Robert Jackson would be a couple other sources of Baja history... If you need anyone's email, just let me know (you have mine)!

Love the history of Antigua California!
