Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
Searching for a long lost family member, Edward LANDON, born somewhere in Canada c.1840, came to California and had a family, wife - Conception c. 1854, son - Edward b.1878, son - Charles b.1881, dtr. - Anita b. 1883, son - William b. 1885, son - Roques b. 1890, dtr. - Louisa b. 1900
This is a fishing expedition because I cannot find a death, birth or marriage certificate for this man. He appeared in California and disappeared into thin air.
There was a listing in a book at the Family History Center here in Sacramento that listed Edward LANDON in Dawson City in 1901. It is supposed to be in the Gazetteer.
If some kind soul could help, it would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!!!!

Re: Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
WOW!!! We have been doing research on this family line for a long time and have not been able to find anything on Edward except under Landers in the 1880 census and a property record in San Bernardino. My father, Christopher, is Roques' grandson through Richard. We have found a lot of information on others but have been quite stumped by Edward. We would love to know if anyone in the family has a family Bible or birth, death or marriage records.
This is so exciting!!! Did Edward go to Dawson City to look for gold in the Alaska gold rush? We are so anxious to find anything! Can you tell? Please let us know at your earliest convenience. Thank you!!!

Re: Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
Rachel,
I went to see my grandmother, Eleanor, yesterday. I don't think this will help you as she is getting "confused" at her age. She is now 87... she is Richard's sister, as a matter of fact she just went down to Vegas with my mom, Theresa Minette Martinez (she now goes by the name Landon due to legal name change) last week to visit Richard & Juanita.
She said that Garrette Cadys' daughter, Marie Cady, has the family bible. Marie lives in Long Beach. I asked her who this side of the family is. She said it is the Cady side, which is HER mothers side. I pointed out that perhaps since this was the Cady family bible that was her mothers side of the family it most likely wouldnt have her dads side of the family. She says it does, so I dont know. I guess that it doesnt hurt to try.
I did see some research paperwork sitting on the desk which I didnt go through, but it I did see that the name Landon was also at times Langdon. Maybe that wil help some how.

Re: Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
i want to thank you for your information. I talked to my dad Christopher Landon and he told me that his dad wasn't doing to well. I hope every thing is OK. Unfortunately i don't know the Landon's very well and I'm very interested in where i come from. I do have a couple of questions who is Garrett Cady ? Is he the nephew of Helen Cady? And do you think they would give us any of the info out of the family bible?Do you have any question for me. I do have some info on the Landon's if you would like to have what i got just let me know and i can send it to you.

Re: Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
Rachel, I do believe that you are right as far as Helen/Garrett Cady. The Cady family is from my grandmothers moms side of the family. I would say that they would give you any information that they would have. I beleive that it is just age for Richard, or as I know him, Uncle Dick. I saw some pictures of him last night and of Aunt Juanita too. Grammy (Eleanor ) Richards brother as I told you before is 87, and is showing signs of being " forgetful" so I dont want to minimize anything about Richard but unfortunately we are only "visitors" so to speak. If you like you can contact me directly at soccermomkm@aol.comKathy

Re: Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
Rachel,
I just got off of the phone from my grandmother, Eleanor, she verified with me that Garrett Cady is in fact the nephew of Helen Cady. The part that I didint know until now is that Helend Cady is my grandmothers mother. Like I said she is not clear at all times, perhaps I need to ask more questions though. She did say that the folks in Long Beach that I told you about would be helpful for whatever info that youmight need if they have it.
Again, feel free to contact me personally.

Re: Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
Kathy, It has been some time since Rachel and I (her mother) have been in contact. I have changed servers and I guess have lost all mail that may have been sent to my previous e-mail.
In reviewing, it looked like Rachel and I needed to contact Garrett Cady as the next step for information out of the Cady family Bible. If that is correct, can you please provide a current street address or e-mail? address?
We would love hear from anyone and see if there has been any progress or research and how everyone is as Elanor and Richard were not doing well at last info.
I know Chris has limited computer time so I keep contact light with him.
Let us know how things are - looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks, Beverly

Re: Edward Landon in Dawson City in 1901
The Anita LANDON we are related to was born in San Bernardino, CA 14 Apr 1883. We have a copy of her and her brothers' baptism records from the St. Bernardine Catholic Church from 30 June 1883.
