I am looking for my biological father and other family members. His name is Burt Gallant - I believe his given first name was John.I believe he was in the Air Force in 1953 and stationed in North Bay, Ontario. I was born in March of 1954 and my Mother's name is Theresa (maiden name was Laporte). His father's name is Albert Gallant and his mother's name is Mary Wedge I think. He was baptized in Bloomfield PEI on June 1, 1932 so born sometime in May of 1932. He married Jacqueline Laframboise on December 27, 1954 in North Bay, Ontario and I heard that they divorced some time later. I am still searching for that information regarding that divorce and later marriages. If anyone has any information, please answer this query.
Can you tell me exactly when Amy died at Yelarbon? We us to live near there at Inglewood then Warwick. I found the marriage of a William Davis and an Amy M Barber (note the different spelling) in the NSW BDM Indexes for 1921. Were there two George Oscar Barker's married to an Amy? There seems to be someone else in Queensland with the same family name or have I got the incorrect family. I am looking for Amy nee Morgan daughter of Thomas and Eliza Morgan born in 1884 in Emmaville NSW. She married George Oscar Barker in 1910 at Emmaville. Regards Anne

You may be writing about to, different Samuel Fisher's. There were several.
Samuel Fisher b. Upper Stewiacke ca. 1854 married Oxford, Cumberland Co., NS 15JUN1883 Jane Snow (b. Guysborough Co., NS ca. 1864), daughter of Joseph and Matilda Snow. Samuel was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Fisher.
Samuel Fisher (b. Upper Stewiacke ca. 1842) married Springhill, Cumberland Co., NS 9OCT1902 Hannah Pettigrew (b. Minudie (?) ca. 1875), d/o James and Sarah Pettigrew. Samuel was the son of Robert and Elizabeth Fisher.
At first glance, except for the difference in dates-of-birth, the two Samuel's seems the same, especially as in 1902 Samuel was a widower.
In River Philip, Cumberland Co., NS in 1911 Samuel was b. MAR1842 and Hannah was b. OCT1873.
In 1891, in Springhill, Cumberland Co., NS Samuel Fisher b. ca. 1842 had a wife, Jane (b. ca. 1866.) It seems that the two Samuel's were the same person with his age in the first marriage (29) being incorrect. Children in 1881 were William (6), Fred (5), Ernest (3) and Samuel (1).
I do not find Samuel in NS in 1881, but in Upper Stewiacke, Colchester Co., NS in that census was Robert-Sample Fisher (ca. 1819), with a wife, Elizabeth (ca. 1823) and children: Jane (22), Mary Ellen (20), David (18), James (15), Sophia (14) and Robert (12). James Tupper Fisher b. 11JUL1867, d. 25AUG1930 was the son of Robert Sample Fisher and of Elizabeth Ann Davis.
In Upper Stewiacke, in 1861, there were Sample (ca. 1821) and Elizabeth (ca. 1824) Fisher with: Samuel (21), Catherine (19), 'Margret' (17), 'Latitia' (Letitia?, 16), Sarah (14), Jane (12), Mary E. (10), David (8), James (6), Sophia (4) and Robert (2). So, it seems that Samuel was the son of Robert Sample and Elizabeth Ann (Davis) Fisher.

Thomas

Hi, Best to post an indivicual message - rathr than attqached to the message posted by someone else - otherwise the threads of the messages get intermingled - and difficult to follow.

For Information re Immigration from Pakistan -
There are many people in Canaa who have come from Pakistan.
Best information - will come from Govt of Canada Immjigration services - check telephone book for addresses -
They will have correct information about the Immigration Process - best to do that than rely on general public - who do not have all of the correct information re the proceedure.
Cheers, Stella

Hello Joan. I am interested in an Amy Morgan who married a George Oscar Barker in 1910 Emmaville NSW. She was born in 1886 in Emmaville and her parents were Thomas and Elizabeth.
George Oscar's parents were George Barker and Sarah Fenn on their marriage certificate. George, going by the name Oscar died in Queensland in 1921 the index showing parents George and Sarah Fenn. I am looking for Amy's death record and the only one found so far is the one for 1960 in Queensland but the parents are different. Do you have a marriage record for your George Barker and Amy? Regards Anne

Gallant is an Acadian name and you should also put your query out to the Maritime Provinces, especially Prince Edward Island. The latest Canadian Census to be released to the public is the 1911 Census. There were a little over 4000 Gallants in Canada. Of those 2400 lived on little PEI, about 1000 lived in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Most of the rest lived in Quebec.

If this is the correct Charles then I believe that I've found more information for him.

He married Catherine Annie Morland in England in 1904.
Charles Mace Apr-May-Jun 1904 Woolwich London 1d Pg. 2104
Catherine Annie Morland Apr-May-Jun 1904 Woolwich London 1d pg. 2104a

Morland is the mother's maiden surname given on the Canadian Marriage records for sons Charles and William.

Sons Charles and William were born in England before the family immigrated to Canada in 1907. Four children were born in Canada.

When Charles enlisted and went to war during WW1 Catherine took the six children and returned to England in Dec 1916. Daughter Kathleen was born while they were in England.

Charles was sent back to Canada with his unit and Catherine and the children were on the same ship in Nov 1918. Sons Ronald and Leonard were probably born in Canada after their return.

There is a picture of Leonard's gravestone on this URL.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/fgdvcappellen/3177817264/

If this is the correct family I can send you more details concerning the above information through your regular email address or contact me through my user name on this message.
