I am researching my fathers family from Whitewood, Sask. His name was Robert James Harries b. 26 May 1922. His father was Alfred (Ted) Harries b. 19 Apr 1894 in Newport, Gwent, Wales. Alfred moved to Whitewood in 1919 after WW1 and farmed on land opened up by the government for veterans. (Soldiers Settlement Farms) I would be interested to find out about how they received this land and if documents had to be filled out giving information about family. He married Hannah (Ann/Anna) Munro b. 1 Apr 1900 in Whitewood. They had 4 children Robert James my father, Isabel Margaret Harries b. 27 Apr 1924, Dorothy Nora Harries b. 10 Nov 1926 and Sheila Elizabeth Harries b. 3 Nov 1933 all in Whitewood. The parents of Hannah were Alexander Munro b. 2 Mar 1860 in Loch, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland and Margaret Catherine McIntosh b. 1 Jan 1968 in Avoch, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland. They had 3 children, John Maxwell Munro b. 24 Sep 1891, Margaret Isabel Munro b. 29 Sep 1898 and Hannah Elizabeth Munro my grandmother. I would like to contact the descendents of Margaret Isabel Munro who I believe married a Jack Hughes. I have more information pertaining to their genealogy from Scotland as well as clippings from newspapers about the family. Alexander Munro came to Canada in 1891 from Stornoway, Lewis Isle, Scotland with his mother and six other siblings whose descendents I would be interested in contacting. The siblings are Isabella Munro b. 17 Apr 1863, Christina Munro b. 5 Dec 1864, John Munro b. 24 Jul 1866, Jessie Ann Munro b. 27 Apr 1868, Donald Munro b. 18 Jun 1870 an Margaret Munro b. 22 Sep 1872. A brother James Munro b. 5 Oct 1861 (Lochs) stayed in Scotland. All these siblings were born in Stornoway, Scotland. Any information on ANY of these people would be GREATLY appreciated.
