Researching my husband's family. His grandfather William COCKWILL, b:abt 1873, ON married in Avonhurst, SK to Elizabeth Windel MCIVOR. Their children were: Ethel, Julia, Nedra, Mary, William, Bernice, Gordon, Margerite, Lois, Hazel, and Ian. The eldest four were born in Balgonie, SK.
The COCKWILL BROS. were mentioned as having purchased a steam engine and separator, and as having 'ran a mail route...to Loon Creek', at Balgonie in 1892. Apparently a Mr. J. Cockwill donated land for a cemetery plot in 1902.
William's siblings included: James, John, Annie, Julia and Sadie. Their father may have been Tom Cockwill. The name could also be spelled COCKWELL.
Any information on this family would be appreciated.

Hi, I am a Cockwill in the UK I have a large tree on here "Cockwill bude tree" which currently starts with the Coxwell name in Oxfordshire area's then moves down to Devon and Cornwall but along the way many Cockwill's moved to Canada and Australia, we have made a firm connection with a Cockwill family in Canada but still searching. If you are interested in seeing if there is a connection let me know. thanks

Hi, Have you found our history book site? If you do a COCKWILL search in it, 34 books show up and when you open each book the page numbers with that name will show up and can be clicked on. http://www.ourroots.ca/e/
This book has a Cockwill from Devon page 63. http://www.ourroots.ca/e/toc.aspx?id=11379 Don't know what all you will find and most were published in the mid-eighties, but may be of some interest. Butch

Wow that's brilliant thanks!! I know of this branch of the tree Cody was doing a lot on it but have not had a reply from him in a while, also know another branch living in Canada, I will look more at the books and see what else i can find. My tree has become somewhat massive i tend to get lost in it at times. I will i hope at least create a tree book but if i can find out any actual information i may make a written book of information and stories as we lost so much history with gran and grandad passing on, no one knows much our end now.
