Sorry, Robert Reid was a very common name as you can imagine. With no dates or locations to help narrow it down, I'm afraid I can't help you. Perhaps it would help if you looked for his death certificate first. That migh give you his birth date, birth place and parent's names. Good luck!

I am not exactly sure what you're asking but will try to answer anyway...(LOL)
The name Shearer is Scottish in origin...(at least all of my Shearers came from East Kilbride/ Lanarkshire area)
As I understand it a "Shearer" was someone who worked with cloth but have not yet found the original culprit in my family yet....
Are you related to Shearer's somehow? Would be very interested in hearing about your family.

Hiya I've been looking through all the threads, and yours poped out at me. I dont know if you could help but I'm thinking you might be able to point me in the right direction. I only know my dads surname is Shearer from his dads side. We know nothing about my grandad, but I'm going on the fact that my dad was born in East Kilbride Glasgow that his dad was from there. Would you be able to point me in the right direction as to where to look first? My dads middle names were William and Kenneth (very scottish I know) but I'm going on another hunch that his dads name was one or the other because all my siblings have our other family members as our middle names.
My family (I'm assuming came from East Kilbride).
