According to the homestead records ,Hugh lived near Watrous and sure enough, they are mentioned in the Watrous history book in http://www.our5roots.ca/e/ When you open the site click on SUBJECT under BROWSE and when the alphabet shows up click on W then WA and scroll to Watrous Region History.
