Hello, I think that the Yurkowski men you mentioned are the same as the ones in my family tree. Joseph Yurkowski was my great grandfather - married to Veronica Yablonski - he had a brother named Frank, and their parents were Stephan Yurkowski and Victoria Borteney.

I don't have many details about that side of my family tree because my grandfather (son of Joseph and Veronica) died a number of years ago and no one seems to know about his family. I would love to share what I do have and compare relatives to see if there is a connection. If you have any more information about the Yurkowski family please email me at kyurkowski@hotmail.com. I check daily.

My wife's uncle George Gedir married Mary Yourkowski/Yurkowski 1947 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and that is the reason for our interest in searching for Yurkowskis as we are trying to learn more about her parents. To learn more about the Gedir/Didur families please review the information found at the following websites below.

Thank you very much Gerald!!!
I did receive an email when you had posted the reply and read it but didn't have time to reply and had since forgotten all about it. I do have some of the information you provided and it matched up well. The book you mentioned, "Pioneer ways to modern days : history of the town of Carrot River..." is one that I'm aware of, my family actually has 2 copies from separate years. I will definitely look into the possible connection to the Gedir family and if there is any other information you could pass on to me or if you want to compare any information about possible family connections please send me an email at kyurkowski@hotmail.com

Sincerely
Kristen Yurkowski

Hello,

I am related to the Yurkowski's you have been talking about. Frank and Helen Yurkowski were my grandparents. Their children were John (my father), Mary (Gedir), Peter, Walter, and Victor. My great grandparents were Stephan and Victoria Yurkowski. They immigrated to Canada in 1896ish. My Grandfather and his brother Joseph were born over seas, two siblings born in Manitoba, and the remaining born in the Redberry area of Saskatchewan.

My father did have a cousin named Dr. Mike Yurkowski that worked at the Uof M for many years and I believe that he had just pasted away a few years ago.
