Trying to trace the descendants of Raymond Read who emigrated to Canada from the Stockport area in U.K. with his brother Eustace Read around 1920. Both farmed around Regina.

There are no homestead applications for these men so they either rented or bought an existing farm. Did they live their whole lives here? Then there would be a cemetery record for them and you could work backwards from there.

I have no record of exactly where my uncle Raymond Read actually lived, although I understood that it was in the region of Regina (or might it have been Moose Jaw?). His brother, Eustace, was married to an English lady, and he also emigrated to Canada at about the same time (early 1920s), but failed to persuade her to go too. Consequently, each year he left the farm in his brother's care and travelled back to UK to try again to persuade his wife to go back with him. This he did thirteen times, making the Altlantic crossing, but finally gave up, and eventually sold the farm (probably to his brother, Raymond), and settled back in England, living his last years with my mother in Lancashire. He died in about 1970, and was buried in the churchyard at High Moor, Stockport, Cheshire. Raymond married a Canadian girl and had a number of children, who I would like to trace.
