I am looking for any information about the Pierre and Albina Desormeau family who farmed in the Steep Creek area from approx 1910 to the 1950's/1960's. I believe that some of Pierre and Albina's son's settled in this area - Antonio (Tony), Joseph Rudulphe, Joseph Francois, Paul, Joseph Edmond and Lucien. Some of these sons, including Lucien, my grandfather, moved to Prince Albert in the 1940's or 50's. Any information regarding this family would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Kathy,
I am the great granddaughter of Antonio "Tony" Desormeau.
I have been researching the family quite heavily in the past 3 years. I have created a tree in Ancestry.com.
I can certainly give you read access to my tree, this may give you some more information.

I realize your posting is many years ago...........

I am trying to track down to determine if there is a definitive Metis background. I am always hitting a dead end.

cheers,
Georgina

I am not related, but grew up in Steep Creek, remembering Joe who live a few miles away. I recall he had barn in which he raised foxes. His neighbours Joe, Raymond and Edmund Roberts, who sadly have died, may have had some info to share. My father has sinced died but did speak fondly of Joe.

Marion,
Thank you so much for your note. . Joe was my great grand uncle. He was the son of Pierre "Peter" and Albina Desormeau.

I recall my grandmother (Alice Desormeau--daughter of Antonio "Tony" Desormeau) talk about Joe and his foxes.

I have found very little information on Joe on Ancestry.com. If you have any stories or information that you recall from your father, or others in Steep Creek, I would sure appreciate it.
My personal email is: georgina.m@shaw.ca if you have any information you are able to share.

thank you,
Georgina Manson
