Looking for info on the Henry HARRISON family, who lived in Assinaboia, SK, from about 1913-1918. He was an employee of a lumber company, I believe a US company. They contracted with the CPR to build a lumber yard to supply ties and to provide lumber to build new towns as the CPR went west across southern Canada. Wife Anna Johnson HARRISON, daughter Orpha, b. 1908, sons, Charles, b. 1910, Henry, b. 1912. These children were all b. in different US states. Fourth child, Rachel Beatrice HARRISON, was b. in Assinaboia May 19, 1915, apparently the first Caucasian child to be born there. Births were not registered there at the time, causing considerable problems when she wanted to get a US passport in the 1960s. Anna was the child of Norwegian immigrant parents, but herself b. in the US. Henry was born in Norway but was naturalized before this time. I don’t know when yet. Rachel held dual citizenship, having been born in Canada of American parents, but gave up her Canadian citizenship in early adulthood when she began voting in the US. Rachel is my mother, still active physically and mentally, and about to celebrate her 94th birthday.
The HARRISON family moved west with the CPR until it reached Vernon, BC, which I understand was its end. Then in the late 1920s the family moved to the Seattle, WA, USA area, where Henry continued to work in the lumber business.
I’m searching for info on this family in Assinaboia. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
