Surnames: Bremner Sayers Taylor Plichette
Your Bremner family has a very interesting history. Bresaylor was named using the first 3 letters of Bremner and Sayers and last 3 of Taylor. I did a search in the history book site using BREMNER CHARLES and 118 books showed up. It appears that during the Riel rebellion Charles was charged with treason and had his furs confiscated along with other settlers including G. Plichette. They petitioned the government and apparently proved to be loyal and one book says Charles was paid 5,000 dollars retribution. This is a link to the book site, just search using BREMNER CHARLES and when you open each book click on the page numbers that show up and pay close attention to books such as "Early Battleford" and "Louis Riel" , you'll enjoy. http://www.ourroots.ca/e/ Butch (board volunteer)

I also forgot to mention that there is a book on Charles Bremner. The book is called "The other side of the Rebellion, the remarkable story of Charles Bremner and his furs" by Margaret R. Stobie. 1986

I bought the book along time ago, but yet have found the time to read it. I'm related to Charles to, My Great grandmother was one of the original Taylors of Bresaylor

Also, if you would like to follow the Bremner side further back look for the Red River Roots & Beyond II Tree on Ancestry. The person that takes care of the tree is also a Bremner and takes great pride and care to make sure the information he has about the family is up to date. He gathers all kinds of pictures and documents of all the family members.

Quite possibly we are related Jenna.....my mother was an Inman, her parents were John Murray Inman and Minnie Taylor, daughter of David Taylor and Elizabeth Spence. Who was your great grandmother. My mom has the Bresaylor, Between book and used to get correspondence from the Bresaylor Museum Society (before she developed dementia). It's a fascinating history!

We are related. David's brother Peter is my Great Great grandfather. Their parents were James and Mary (Inkster) Taylor. The history of Bresaylor is history changing for the area and canadian history itself.

If its not to personal do you live around the area?

Hi Jenna. No, I live in BC now, but was born in North Battleford and lived in Lloydminster til I was 17 so drove that highway many times, back when there were still people living there. David's daughter Minnie was my grandmother, and my grandfather was John Inman (grandpa Jack). They remained in the area til my grandfather retired (Minnie died when my mom was only 12) - I think the farm auction was in 1949 or so. I have the original newspaper clipping so will have to check. I think the farm was bought by the Kissack family - I remember my mom mentioning Jessie Kissack, I think, and many yrs later they brought my grandparents buffett to my mom in Lloydminster. I still have that hutch, and a large framed photo on the farmhouse in Arbour Hill so feel like Bresaylor and area are still close to me. I'm only starting on this journey through Ancestry but have bits and pieces of the family history directly related to Minnie. Just wish I had more time to devote to the project.

Thanks for your response....do you live around that area?

Currently I live in Alberta. But I was born in Maidstone and lived there for quite a few years so pretty close. My parents parents are from the meota, north battleford area, and we have a cabin in that area so we drive by Bresaylor every time we go to see my grandparents
