Glenbush and Rabbit Lake area. My great great great Grandfather Charles Poor (e) came from the USA his wife's name was Minnie Pearl, he owned a store in Meeting Lake Saskatchewan according to family sources. His son SYLVESTER POOR was born in Devil's Lake ND, he married Pearl Peck born in Sleepy Eye MN and had a daughter Grace (who married Sylvan White) in Rabbit Lake. He settled in Green Lake eventually and died in MooseJaw. He had several children Grace, already mentioned, Art, Orville (who died -March 2002- in Spiritwood Sask.), Glen (Signey), Denny/Denman- (my Grandfather -who married Mabel Berg the daughter of Alfred Berg who homesteaded in Rabbit Lake), Alice who married Art Johnston, Dolly (Susan), John (married Erna Llick- she attended Stokes School). Denman had 4 children and they homesteaded near Glenbush Saskatchewan. Ronald (my father married Phyllis Prodahl- her family was from Prince Albert Sask.), Raymond, Hazel (married Harvey Quering), and Marjorie. Any info about my ggg grandfather Charles would be highly appreciated and his wife Minnie Pearl. He had a son William (Billy) who went back to the USA. Bill had a son Marion who married an Esther Newman. They had several children all V- names ie Vernon, Vesta Virgil, Violet......There was also a Brother Ralph who also resided in the USA. Any info about Minnie Pearl's last name or Where Charles came from in the US or any data at all that would help me in my search would be much appreciated.
Thank you very much in advance

Hi Jude I received your email. Thankyou very much in advance for any assistance in this regard! I was very pleasantly surprised to hear from you....mom was born in Prince Albert on May 3rd 1934. Dad was born in Rabbit Lake February 23rd 1935. Dad took us to Saskatchewan for a couple of years when I was a kid and we homesteaded on his family farm near Glenbush, well it was halfway between Glenbush and Spiritwood. I heard his uncle Orville lived in Spiritwood till his death last March and that Orville's wife Annie still lives there. I found out a couple of months too late about Uncle Orville and was saddened by the news. Aunt Erna gave me a picture of Orville. Dad is a dead ringer for him. The resemblence is uncanny. Dad is still farming on the same spot you last saw him. I will let the family know where you guys are. Lots of love!
Susan

The Charles Poore/Poor would have a son Sylvester, and a son William/Bill/Billy....Sylvester was born in Devil's Lake North Dakota...so you appear to be warm here.
Thanx, I will look into it.

This is an update to the first message I posted. Still looking for the elusive Minnie Pearl the family discussed about but it is NOT the wife of Charles D Poor. His first wife of many years was Rebecca G Petro (there is much confusion about which Rebecca, there were Two Rebeccas so I will put the data I have here for our line. Rebecca G. Petro Birth 1848-1851 in Indiana, USA (in the Census of the family her date is given as 1848 and 1851 in two different Census. Her father was Michael C (See) Petro born 1826 in Clear Creek, Warren Co., OH. His father was John Petro and his mother was Mary Sutton. There are many confused lines out there as this is a large family all born around the same area. Rebecca's mother was Catherine J Stumpf.(Stump) born 1823 in Virginia. Charles' son Sylvester married Pearl McKay Peck. She descended from Deacon Paul Peck via Moses Peck and Sarah Kellogg. Charles left Iowa and travelled up to North Dakota, Some of his son William H Poor's children are at Sand Creek, Slope County North Dakota, the family mentioned Devil's Lake as well. From there by Covered Wagon he travelled up to Lanigan Saskatchewan for a spell and then he went to Battleford(North Battleford) and set up a Butcher shop. In 1908 he filed on a homestead at Meeting Lake Saskatchewan. At Meeting Lake he had a store and a post office and the family says he also ran a lemonaid stand on the Lake in the summer. In 1919 he took a new homestead in Norbury Saskatchewan and there started another store and post office. He died in 1920 and his second wife, Isabella (Bella) who immigrated to Canada from Scotland, ran the businesses till her death. Rebecca was on the 1900 Census with Charles and Sylvester and William. They were in their Fifties then so I suspect she died soon after. They were living in Iowa.I am looking for the time and place she died.
Last time she is alive in the records is here

Rebecca Poor Wife United States Census, 1900 birth: January 1851 Indiana residence: 1900 ED 84 Grant & Omega Townships, O'Brien, Iowa, United States spouse: Charles Poor children: William H Poor, Sylvester Poor other: William R Petro, Mike P Petro, Mary P Petro, George M Petro, Rosakell Petro, Walter Ballard...etc...they had a boarding house and some of Rebecca's family were with them as there was a family tradgedy which had Rebecca and Charles helping them out. At that time Charles is listed as a Contracter. Their daughter Sara Poor was already married to Charles Dye at the time of the Census.
