Hello Listers, can anyone tell me the district and twp for Leader, Sask. as it appeared in the early 20th century Canadian Census. I am looking for a great uncle John Basil Harkin who I believe was living there about 1916 but he doesn't show up in keyword searches. I want to browse the relevant census info but I need to narrow my search. Thanks for your time and help.

Thanks so much for this. John Basil Harkin was born in Stayner Ontario in 1891, s/o Michael C. & Elizabeth Harkin. The family moved to Edmonton about 1909 where Michael & his son were real estate agents. 1911 CC shows "M.C. Harken" & "J.B. Harken" in Red Deer (Elizabeth is shown as "Hooker" & is living in Edmonton with other children.
Michael C. died suddenly in June 1914 & John Basil joined the NWMP in Dec of that year. I suspect M.C. took money he & his wife inherited & invested in land in Alberta. He may have lost a bunch when the bottom fell out of the land boom about 1913.
In 1918 Elizabeth is living with her son Basil in Leader, Sask.A city directory should provide more info on this.
RCMP has no record of a discharge date but the 1921 census shows "John Harkin" (29 yrs of age) living with his "wife" "Justin" (26 yrs of age) in the district of Swift Current, town of Herbert. I have no record of this marriage & no family name but info from my family confirms that J.B.'s wife's name was Justin..
According to an obit in the Edmonton Journal, J.B. died in Ceylon, Sask & was buried from St. Joseph's RC church. His name appears on the same headstone as his father. Interestingly, the obit does not mention a surviving spouse.
It may also be relevant that J.B.'s mother's brother, Andrew McDonald, had left Ontario in the late 1890s and became a successful business man in Prince Albert, although that is a long way from Moose Jaw.
Looks like more for a research trip to the National Archives.
Thanks, again. Much appreciate.

Thanks for this link. Good info & some great photos, particularly of the hotel.. Interesting that Harkin is operating the hotel with "J. Barr". Is this Justin, i.d. as his wife in 1921 census? I found no marriage record on Ancestry. Do you know if Sask marriages are available on-line? Or city directories? 1921 census gives arrival date as 1906, naturalized in 1909, but I didn't find her in 1911 census. I'll check the Leader newspaper for an obit for J.B. Harkin.
Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
