Hi! I was born 4 miles south of Glidden on Highway #30 (later renamed) and lived and farmed there for many years prior to selling the farm and moving to B.C. My love for this town has never left me and I feel like there should be a History Website in order to keep 'alive' this once thriving town and community where there were so many outstanding and friendly people both in the town and on the farms. I would be willing to initiate this if anyone in the area or was from the area would be willing to participate by contributing information, photos, arial photos, maps, events, happy and not so happy times, homesteads, family names and any other items that would be of interest to include in the Website.
Most Gliddenites know that the Glidden Paint Co. started from this tiny town back at the turn of the 20th. Century and the early 1900's by Mr. Glidden after whom the town was named.
I am sure that if we approached the Glidden Paint Co. for financially support in the establishment of this Website, they would probably be very happy to do so.
What do you think? Is it a good idea and do you think it will work? Should "our" town have it's own place in history and on the World Wide Web? Why not?
Let me know how you feel about it and maybe we can generate a lot of interest and make it happen.
Thanks for now and hope to hear from many of you out there for "our Town".
Regards
Morice
