This is a continuation of the posts under the same subject dtd Jul 2009. Somehow when I posted to the 2009 messages it showed up as a new post by "oreot25" (the one just before this one). Sorry about that. Not sure how to correct it. Maybe someone smarter than I am can inform me on how this happened. Anyway, here is what I was trying to post.
Hi Matt and all,
I believe that we have found what happened to the child of Richard and Martha Thompson, Eliza Thompson, b. 1867/68 in Ontario, that has not been documented in the Richard and Martha Thompson family trees. I strongly believe she is our g-grandmother, Eliza Lavinia Thompson b. Nov 1867 in Ontario. We have been researching for a number of years trying to find her Thompson roots and recently found a record of birth/baptism that matches what we know about our Eliza Thompson (see below). The record is from St. George's Anglican church in Haliburton, Ont. It shows the dates of birth and baptism for Eliza Levinia and two siblings, Sarah Eleanor and Clarissa Aline.
Our Eliza Lavinia Thompson married Hugh John McMillan in Ontario. They eventually moved to Devils Lake, North Dakota where Eliza died in 1906 of tonsillitis. Hugh married a few more times and eventually moved back to Canada. We do not know what happened to him after that. Their eldest son was named Richard John McMillan. The mother of their second son is shown as Eliza Nevina (Levina) Thompson, and one of their daughters, my grandmother, was Margaret Elizabeth Lavinia McMillan. The 1900 census for North Dakota shows that Eliza's parents were born in England. These are some facts that tend to confirm the connection, I think.
I would love to talk with anyone that has comments about this record and needs more detail on our g-grandmother, Eliza Lavinia Thompson.
