Re: GEIB Alphonse in Saskatchewan
Thanks for looking up the directory and the vital stats. Alphonse Geib came alone after his 1907 divorce. He landed in Quebec City 1 May 1909 on S.S. Canada of the Dominion line. When he got the Canadian nationality in 1929 he resided as clerk in Delmas. The 1939 residence information comes from the obit of his brother François Geib, who died in Luxembourg 23 March 1939.

Re: GEIB Alphonse in Saskatchewan
I searched all I could think of, but only found a tidbit in this on-line history book, page 104. http://www.ourroots.ca/e/toc.aspx?id=9163 All the cemeteries haven't been transcribed yet so on-line searches aren't 100%. Butch

Re: GEIB Alphonse in Saskatchewan
Hi , A search of City Directories - Criss Cross directories eg - Henderson/ Wigleys - show name to address address to name - may show all adult persons living at an address may show occupation and place of work - Delmas might be included under a larger Town Dominion Directory - may show occupants including smaller villages towns etc
Does the Obituary mention any other names - Perhaps following those will find information about Alphonse GEIB

Re: GEIB Alphonse in Saskatchewan
Thanks for the link. Since he had been a notary public in Luxembourg, it is not surprising that he was at ease with writing and setting up correct records.

Re: GEIB Alphonse in Saskatchewan
The obit of François Geib, brother of Alphonse, published in the "Luxemburger Wort" 24 March 1939 is enclosed. As you suggested, checking through the relatives' names might be helpful and the Rodenbour name has a direct Canadian connection. The parents of François & Alphonse Geib were François Geib (sen.) and Elisabeth (Louise) Rodenbour; she was born 1 Feb 1846 in Oberfeulen, Luxembourg, daughter of Nicholas Rodenbour and Anne Marie Graff
In the 1916 Census "Alfronce" Geib lives in the household of John "Rodinbour" in District 17, Battleford, Sask. Also in this household are the brothers Jacques and Alphonse as well as John's father Jacques Rodenbour, 59 years and a native of Luxembourg. By checking the Oberfeulen records I was able the find the birth record. Jacques Rodenbour was born 20 Jan 1848 in Oberfeulen, as the son of Nicholas Rodenbourg and Anne Marie Graff.
This makes Jacques Rodenbour Alphonse's uncle on the maternal side.
The St. Jean Baptiste de la Salle cemetery in Delmas, has the tombstones of Jacques Rodenbourg (b. 1892) and A. (Alphonse?) George Rodenbourg, Alas there is no mention of a Geib tombstone.

Re: RODENBOUR in Saskatchewan
Hello Jean,
I think my John Rodenbour might be the brother of your Elisabeth (Louise) Rodenbour Geib and Jacques Rodenbour. John was born in Oberfeulen, Luxembourg in about 1842-1844 as far as I can tell by the US censuses, where he lived in Minnesota and South Dakota.
John's daughter Elisabeth / Liz married Albert Hillstrom and they lived and brought their children up in Saskatchewan. Do you have a way of finding out if this John is also the son of Nicholas Rodenbourgh & Ann Marie Graff?
Many thanks & kind regards, Carol Mohr nr Vancouver

Re: RODENBOUR in Saskatchewan
Thank you so much for this. I appreciate it. I wasn't aware of this particular book. My father-in-law Gerald Mohr, whose mother was a Hillstrom, grew up in this area, along with many of his cousins, so I'm hoping to find some other family members as well! Kind regards, Carol
