I am looking for information about Joseph Schroeder and his wife Barbara Halter. Joseph was born in 1892 and Barbara in 1894. Joseph was a widow and married Barbara in Tramping Lake at St. Michael's Church on February 3, 1919. Joseph farmed near Asor in the Hearts Hill area west of Tramping Lake. If any one can give me information about their family I would appreciate it. I would also like to know if they stayed in that area and when they passed away. Working on a Halter family history.

In your search for information on Joseph, Did you come across any information on being related to Michael and Friedrick Schroeder. They also came to tramplinf Lake in about 1910, with the Feists I am researching from Kronental Cremea.
Thanks Reg

This is a very tenuous link, but I am working on my husband's family tree and I have found some Schroeders in my search-I haven't gotten very far as my mother-in-law's memory is not great. They were from that general area that you are in. The names I have are Myrtle and Irene[her cousins]I have Myrtle as being born in 1919 or 1921.This same person married an Edward Schinkel in 1942.I have an autograph book belonging to my mother-in-law and both girls signed it and listed an address as Ashville Manitoba. The names I am interested in are Auguste Renas[or Rinas] and Lillian Wagner[husband and wife].I know that they were all of German descent and Lillian Wagner was actually born in Russia as was Auguste.Actually I was just going through this stuff today and decided to have a look at the Battleford site again which I haven't done for a while and saw your query.Let me know if this gives you any clues and i'll try for more info.Joyce willard

Gottlieb and Apalonia (Bozer) Schroeder were the parents of two sons, Frederick and Michael.

Frederick, Gottlieb's elder son, and his first wife Katherina Feist had three children. After Katherina's death, Frederick remarried. He and his second wife, Magdelina Weiser, had thriteen children. Frederick died in 1903 leaving Magdelina a young widow with eight children, two of them twin baby girls.

About 1910 two children from Frederick's first marrage, Michael Schroeder and Sophia Klee immigrated to the USA with their families.

After losing the baby girls, Magelina and five of her remaining children also left the homeland. They came to Canada. Three of the boys became farmers. John in Chamberlain, Sask, Andrew at Craik, Sask, and Gregory in Alberta near Coronation.

Michael, Gottleib and Apalonia's second son, served in the Russian army. He was determinded that his sons should not be called to shuch a hard fate. That and the promise of free land offered to settlers in Canada enticed him to sell his possessions and leave the Crimea. He and his wife Fransiska and their four sons, Joseph, Frederick, Peter and Nicholas and three daughter, Clara, Katherine, and Philomina homesteaded in the area that is now know as Reward, Sask.

The Schroeder Genealogy: Adelina (Schroeder) Folk, 1989.

Will be glad to answer questions, trade files, also have a Böser/Boeser/Boesser/ Bozser Genealogy (complied by Father John Boser - 1986).

Hi Ludwig

I just ran across your message.
Gottlieb Schroeder and Apolonia Boser are my great-great-grandparents. They were married 3 Nov 1845 in Kronental, Crimea, Russia.
If this fits, I have quite a bit of data on the family.
