Searching for the parents of my grandmother Frances Ostrom b. 1883 d. 1910 in Toronto, Ontario. She married Benjamin McEwan April 1899. Her parents moved out to Saskatchewan at some point. I have a photo taken at the farm in Cantour or Contour Sask. with my gr grandmother Ostrom, her sister Bertie Clark, Bertie's daughter Mildred A.M. Clark and my aunt Frances Munro McEwan taken about 1916. Does anyone have any information on this line of Ostroms. Also perhaps if anyone could tell me where Contour or Cantour Sask is situated I could look in the census for that area. Thank-you

The name you are looking for was probably Canteur ,it was located on Highway #32 between Swift Current and the town of Pennant . The town is gone and there is only a sign on the railway track. My late father homesteaded there in 1911.
Found the information in a Memory Book of Canteur in the library in Swift Current about five years ago.
The inside cover of the book has a lay of the land the names of the homesteaders or other occupants . You might be able to find the name Mc Ewan there or else in the family write ups.
Try writing to the library there and someone might be able to help you.
I personally visited the library and they were most helpful.
