Many thanks for your reply. I have a problem with the census in that the 1906 record does not tie up with the 1916 record. The probate record shows Margaret as their mother and it doesn't match the ages of the children given in the 1916 census. Emma, Margaret, Nellie are missing from the census record in 1916. However, I cannot find a Mace and Margaret in the 1916 census either, only Mace and Mary! I cannot find a Mace and Mary in the 1906 census! Mystified! Other differences were ethnicity and religious background. The 1906 census for Battleford shows Mace (30) born Ontario and Magie (24) born Manitoba, Martha (3) born Manitoba, Violet (1) born Manitoba. I did find a birth record for Martha Pearl Thaddeus, mother Margaret, father Mace McIntosh.
So far, I haven't been able to establish that Margaret married again though that would make sense as to why I cannot find any trace of her children.
I have found land records for Saskatchewan but haven't yet accessed them (still finding my way around Saskatchewan records).
I found listed:
1593621 Mace McIntosh SE 28 37 17 W3
1718406 Mrs. Margaret McIntosh SE 15 9 7 W3
1755734 Mrs Margaret McIntosh NE 15 9 7 W3
Against the two entries for Margaret is the note: See also McIntosh, Clifford, Legal representative of the above deceased.
Trying to learn as much as I can about Canadian history so I can understand what I'm looking at! Baffled and confused! Thanks you for your suggestions!
