Hi What is the time frame in the 1900's that you are researching the RAHRICK family
Did the family obtain land - etc
Find a Grave - USA - online - ongoing project -
finds 7 RAHRICK burials at
Holy Cross Cemetery Ipswich, Edmonds County S. Dakota'
1 female RAHRICK - State Hospital Cemetery Yankton ,Yankton County S.Dakota
What is the Origin of the RAHRICK surname -

Hi,
Sorry not specifically just researching 1900, 1800 and further as well.
Thanks so much for the information on the grave sites!
Origin of name is Austrian
Yes the family would have obtained land.
Can you clarify ongoing project? Is that your project or someone else's?

Hi, Re Ongoing Project - The find a grave site - depends on volunteers, families etc visiting the cemeteries and filming the gravesites - Others - individuals, family - genealogy societies - visiting and transcribing /Indexing the burials at cemeteries in their localities It is a long process -with few volunteers - or persons knowing about the projects
Re the Surname: question : Many times our Eastern European [ and others] have been misspelled on some documents and in the Census - when persons / enumerators - spell what they hear - not the original spelling -or the original name is anglicised

Austro-Hungarian Empire - persons were considered citizens of Austria - though
their origin - may be Ukraine, Poland, Romania etc
On documents - some may state Austrian - others Ukrainian, Bukovania, Galician etc

When searching Canada Census for RAHRICK - found the following - which may
be connected to the original name. Rohrick [German USA]
Rehorick[Bukovinia], Reharahik [Austrian ] perhaps many other variations

Hi,

Very interesting. How do you become involved with find a grave?
Regarding the surname. To the best of my knowledge Rahrick was definitely Austrian in this case and should be spelled correctly.
Yes, misspelled or changed when the family immigrated.
Are not related to this family line, or just helping with find a grave?
