Catholic Church is Stratford, Richmond & Wolfe, Quebec
Can anyone help me locate a catholic church in this area between 1860 and 1880. I am trying to get some more detail on the Boudreau family that is showing up in the 1881 census. The fhead of household is François with spouse Françoise.
I appreciate your help in advance.

Re: Catholic Church is Stratford, Richmond & Wolfe, Quebec
Here's a list of parishes that existed between 1860-1880 in the counties you mentioned. The year the parish was founded is in parenthesis & it still existed in 1880: RICHMOND County: St-Praxède (1871) in Bromptonville; Ste-Anne (1866) in Danville; Ste-Bibiane (1847) in Richmond; St-Philémon (1875) in Stoke; St-Philippe (1875) in Windsor-Mills
STRATFORD is par of WOLFE County: St-Charles-Borromée (1876) in Beaulac (SKS Garthby); Très-Saints-Anges (1868) in Ham-Nord; Saint-Camille (1849) in Saint-Camille; Saint-Fortunat (1876) in Saint-Fortunat; Saint-Julien (1863) in Saint-Julien; Saint-Gabriel (1857) in Stratford; Saint-Janvier (1862) in Weedon-Centre; Saint-Hippolyte (1856) in Wottonville
I have both the MALE & FEMALE marriage registries for WOLFE County, which includes the above-listed parishes, & there is no marriage for a François BOUDREAU (BOUDREAULT)+ a Françoise. Nor are any marriages listed of BOUDREAU (BOUDREAULT) having this couple as their parents. So, it may not be worth your while researching WOLFE County, which includes the town of Stratford. It may be best to start with RIMOND County. Unfortunately, I don't have that marriage registry. Hope this helps you in your research.

Re: Catholic Church is Stratford, Richmond & Wolfe, Quebec
I am looking for the Catholic church my Irish Catholic Conway family might have attended in mid 1800's. They lived in Melbourne. Which do you think would be the most likely. I am not familiar enough with the locations to know which would have been closest. The family of Barney Conway included Mary Jane who married protestant Alonzo Leavitt. Thanks for your assistance. It was most likely St. Bibiane. There was a second Catholic Church in Richmond (Ste. Famille), but I think it was formed later than the period that interests you.

Re: Catholic Church is Stratford, Richmond & Wolfe, Quebec
Thanks, I haven't been clear about the Irish Catholic population in Lower Quebec or how or why they would have come in the 1800's. Was their a particular settlement that maybe my Conway's might have settled because of ethnic similarity or were they their for railroad work or something like that. I have never learned if they were merchants or farmers or ? Alonzo Leavitt, wife of Mary Jane Conway had her first child, William in Wickham, what is the possibility that she was born their? Also Barney Conway family in 1881 Census in Melbourne but not sure if they are the same family. What would you suggest next? Thanks

Re: Catholic Church is Stratford, Richmond & Wolfe, Quebec
Muriel,
I was wondering if you could help me out. I am looking for the marriage of Remi/Remie Fortin and Adeline L'Heureux in the Weedon area around 1870. I was wondering if you could look in the surrounding towns as I have not been able to locate the marriage in Weedon itself. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to the following link: http://www.mesaieux.com/fr/default.htmYou'll have to sign in but research is free. Just type in Rémi Fortin & you'll find his marriage to Marie-Adéline l'Heureux as well as the name of their parents. Good luck.
