Elizabeth Turcott born about 1850 at Calumet Island, Pontiac Co., Ontario. Married Maxime Gagnon 1869/70 at Ashby Twp., Addington Co., Ontario. Have documentation that her father was Nazaire Turcott, but need documentation for her mother, Marianne Lemaire dit St. Gemain. Siblings include: Marie Philomene married Vittorio Catani, Marguerite married Pierre/Peter Beauchamp, Pierre/Peter, David?, & Nazaire. Any information on these individuals appreciated.

My grand mother, Yvonne Lemaire was born in 1893 in Calumet Island. Apparently, that year, the Lemaire family of Calumet changed their surname frome "Lemaire-dit-st-Germaint" to "Lemaire".

Thank you for the information. Do you have any additional information on this family? Mariane Lemaire dite St. Germain, was my gt. gt. gt. grandmother. She was born 17 Aug 1827 and was married about 1844 to Nazaire Turcotte. She was the daughter of Pierre Lemaire dit St. Germain and Mariane Richard. She had a sister named Elisabeth. Do you have any information on Pierre Lemaire dit St. Germain or any of his children?

Marie Richard was the daughter of Richard Plunkett and an Indian woman. She was given the name Richard after the father left the mother with the daughters and went back to England. After the death of Pierre Lemaire St. Germain she remarried to Louis St. Eloi in 1836 and lived on Ile Calumet until she died in 1877. She is buried at the old St. Anne's cemetary and her headstone is there still. I am seeking any information as to Marie's or Pierre's birth.

Lemaire dit St. Germain - Grand Calumet Island
I am researching a Lemaire dit St. Germain family who were residents of Ile du Grand Calumet, Pontiac Co., Quebec. I only have bits and pieces of the puzzle at this point and don't know how it all fits together, but perhaps you may have information which can help.
My ancestor was Pierre Lemaire dit St. Germain, born about 1800 and was married to Marie Anne Richard. Pierre and Marie Anne's known children were: 1) Elisabeth Lemaire dite St. Germain b. 3 Mar 1825, m. 13 Sep 1841 at Ile du Grand Calumet to Louis Buisson, d. Jan 1867 and buried at Ste. Anne du Grand Calumet. Sponsors on baptism record were Baptiste Martin and Margeret St. Germain. 2) Marie Anne Lemaire dite St. Germain b. 17 Aug 1827, m. to Nazaire Turcotte. Sponsors on baptism record were Lewis Martel and Susanne St. Germain. Pierre drowned 15 June 1832. His widow, Marie Anne, married a second time to Louis St. Eloi on 4 Feb 1836. Their children were: 1) Louis St. Eloi b. & d. 1833 2) Jean Louis St. Eloi b. 1835 m. Roseanne Samson 3) David St. Eloi m. Marguerite Cahill 4) Joseph St. Eloi m. Marie Desjardins 5) Antoine Seraphim St. Eloi m. Sara Deneault
Here are some additional people whose names I have found as sponsors on baptism records, but I don't know how they fit into my family. 1) Antoine Bisson and Marie Suzanne St. Germain 2) Marguerite Cadotte, widow of Joseph St. Germain
I need to locate a marriage record for Pierre Lemaire dit St. Germain and Marie Anne Richard. Any other information you, or anyone else reading this, may have on any of these names will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Bonjour Sébas,
I am actually trying to verify if I do have indian blood, and if my ancestor (Sicard) was really a knight in France.
This is what I know:
My grand-ma, Yvonne Lemaire, born in 1893 in Calumet Island was apparently indian or the daughter of an indian woman. The name Cadotte rings a bell. I think my grand-mother was related to that family. She was married to Charles Sicard.
My father died a few years ago.My mother now lives with this man, a Lemaire from Calumet Island who told me about the Lemaire-dit-st-germain changing their surmane for Lemaire back in 1893.
This is very interesting but it I still miss a lot of info.
I suppose I will have to go to the Island and do some research in the church's old records.

I will ask my step dad who is a lemaire, if he is related to your dad and grand-father. I 'll keep you informed.
À la prochaine!

Re: Lemaire dit St. Germain - Grand Calumet Island
Hello!
Thanks for the informations.
I dont think we are in the same line. It is a surprise for me! Coz île de Grand-Calumet is so small! But it must join somewhere but I dont see.. If you dont have any Victor, Louis or Prosper Lemaire, we are not in the same line.
I'll try to search a little more!
