Re: Keon from Glen East, Inismacsaint, Co Fermanagh
One of those "who'd a thunk" moments. Thanks for the tip. One of my relatives always thought John Crowley(paternal G.G- Grandfather.) might have come from one of the northern counties. Your hint might someday open the door to my "jump across the ocean" ron

Re: Irish Immigrants in Pontiac County
Kathy, I'm having the best, genealogical years in three decades. My International Ancestry ticket was the key to the "jump over the ocean" lock. Ex-radio newsmens' trade currency in the early 70s was black coffee or cigarettes. Therefore, if I ever meet you I promise you a small, black coffee(LOL), County Roscommon..how interesting. Thanks again, ron

Re: Irish Immigrants in Pontiac County
Hi Michael, I do a little Irish history book for my fellow Micks in nearby Emily Township. It's a history of St. Luke's Church, but it also contains dozens of tombstone writings. The locals came beginning in 1823 ."I'm supposed to have the third edition of the Simon Connell book ready for the first weekend in August.(The Jamboree). If I can just get off Ancestry, I'll get started. ron

Re: Irish Immigrants in Pontiac County
Thanks Michael. Although the book I now take care of deals with Robinson folk, one must remember there were other Robinson expeditions. You might check out settlers who got land in the Ontario counties along the Ottawa River. I've heard they kept moving upriver to at least Pembroke. Thanks for your solid tips. ron

Re: Irish Immigrants in Pontiac County
Hello all !
I'm new to Ancestry & am inquiring on behalf of my fiancé & his family.
We live in Windsor, Ontario & my fiance's father, Lloyd DEVINE's parents came from Allumette island.
We don't know where in Ireland they originated or much else about the family. Lloyd has a sister Helen, brother Tom & still has property on the island. They're taking a trip to see if anyone from the family's still residing (in 2 weeks - July 14, 2015 ish.
If anyone on this post recognizes this last name or has history, please reply.
It would be incredible to be able to see or hear of their ancestors. Thank you kindly,
Jennifer
