Surnames: Gauthier
I am looking for parents/information of Richard/Regis Gauthier who was married to Anne/Annie Lavigne and have lived in Leslie (Otter Lake). i cannot find any info prior Census of 1881. Their children were Josephine, Angeline, Emilie, Philomene, William and Louis. On the 1911 Census Louis is listed as Grandson but listed as son on all other Census.

Louis Gauthier (1893-1974)was the grand father of my wife and he was married to Célima/Célina Cartier September 30th 1929.

Any information anyone could share on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Have you seen the copy of the register for this mariage ? The parents of Louis Gauthier (Beaudoin) are not indicated. He is probably an illegitime child.

He is 34 years old, she's 17 years old as per the ISQ index.

in the 1911 Census, he is the grandson born in Aug 1895.

1901 Census, he is the son, born in Oct. 1893.

I can't find the register for this entry :
Louis Gauthier, son of Elise Gauthier, born Oct. 10th 1892, bapt. Oct. 23rd, 1892 Ste-Elisabeth de Hongrie, Vinton.

ref. SGO data base.

Did Regis and Anne had a daughter name Elise ?

First thank you for searching for info and helping me.

I did see in the Census that on one Louis was listed as a son and other as the grandson. The info i have gathered on him doesn't really match either.

-On his grave the years are 1892-1974
-As per my mother in law, his birthday was on October 10th as you mentioned.
-On one of the Census his birthday is listed as October 3rd 1893.
-On the 1911 Census born Aug 1895.
-On the 1901 Census listed as born on October 3rd 1893.

From what i could find in my research, Regis had Philomine (Philomene, Marie Josephine, Emilie and William listed as children along with Louis.

I have not seen Elise Gauthier in any documents but i did see a Eugene Goddin (Godin)on Regis burrial record of July 16 1920 and also as a witness to Louis marriage to Celima/Celina Cartier on September 30th 1929

Found the burial paper this morning of Elise Gauthier. She was buried on April 24th and died on the 20th. No mention of her parents but has Louis Gauthier and Theatre Hurtibise as present for the burial.

Maybe Elise was a relative of Regis Gauthier ?

Any hints with the baptisms of the children of Louis ?

No hints coming up after finding baptism papers of the children of Louis.

I will have to dig a little more for Elise Gauthier but with my calculations of year of birth in Elise burial with her age and other Census for Emelie they would have been born in the same year (1879)

Found the burial document for Emelie and Elise so they are not the same person.

Still can't find any other documents on Elise beside her burial which shows that she was buried in the St Charles Borromée cemetery. I have been to the old and new cemetery in Otter Lake and did not find any headstones with her name on it.
