McKelvey's of Cascades Que.
Any information on James McKelvey or Thomas his son or any McKelvey's of this region. Info on Thomas shows he was born 12/1856 in Cascades (12 mi. N of Hull). He then went to North Bay and married Isaabella Reid. Then went to Rossland B.C. Other sites of interest were Ponoka AB

Re: McKelvey's of Cascades Que.
I believe great-grandfather, Henry Carson (born 1862) was living with a James McKELVEY in Quebec in 1881. I believe he came to the US about 1884, married Winifred O'Leary, settled in Johnston, R.I. and had five children starting about 1887, one named "Isabella". According to my father, Henry Carson, who was violently anti-british, stowed away to Canada from Ireland; however, the 1900 census in R.I. has him as being born in Canada and having a father born in Canada and a mother born in Scotland.

Re: McKelvey's of Cascades Que.
I am sorry I do not know. I got the info. I have off of the Canada Census from the site for Latter Day Saints. I was curious because I remember there being an Isabella or Isabel conntected with the McKelveys and Henry Carson named a child Isabel.
I think I remember James McKelvey being a farmer and belonging to the Church of England.
Sorry.

Re: McKelvey's of Cascades Que.
Carolyn: Are you interested in the McKelvey side or the Carson side. I have some information on the McKelvey side if you are researching that side. Hannah Beattie married James McKelvey. Isabelle Ann Beattie married John Charles McKelvey. He was my gggrandfather. Thanks for getting back to me so fast. Dianne

Re: McKelvey's of Cascades Que.
Thanks Diane: I appreciate your offer, but I'm not even sure if I am correct in my information. I don't know at all the relationship between James McKelvey and Henry Carson. I'm thinking Henry Carson was a farm hand and not related at all. My father says Henry Carson was a stow-away on a ship from Ireland to Canada. He was in some kind of trouble in Ireland. My father also said Henry Carson revealed little about his past. Therefore, I doubt that there was a blood relationship between McKelvey and Carson. McKelvey must have been a good hearted person to take in a teenager in trouble with no family. Thanks for your kind offer though. It would be nice to find a sure thing connection. Carolyn

Re: McKelvey's of Cascades Que.
If this is my family, then you have done me an enormous favor. Is this the 1881 Canadian census? I believe Henry Carson is my great-grandfather.
Best Regards.
