I have some information on the McKelvey's/Carsons of Cascades as James McKelvey is my g.g. grandfather. I live within a couple of miles from the original homestead in Cascades.

What a fluke!! Just returned from the Calgary Stampede by wat of Red Deer AB and was at the archives looking for McKelvey,s. I believe that James is also my G.G. Grandfather by way of Thomas who married Isabella Reid. Their daughter Gladys was my mother. If this agrees with what you have, would be glad to share what I have on the Western half.

Regards Don

Hi it seems like the names fit. There was a son Thomas who went out west. I sent you an e-mail as well with more info. Hope to hear from you soon. Linda.

Hi Don,
Percy McKelvey was one son of Thomas McKelvey - he eventually settled in Ponoka and became the mayor, and also spent time as an MLA in Alberta. Eventually Percy came to Vancouver and he died quite a number of years ago. I have a picture of the homestead in Rossland, and Percy and his brothers and sisters are all there. Along with Isabella Reid.
Thomas and Isabelle eventually were divorced and Isabella travelled to Vancouver and re married there. I found this in the Vancouver public records. There were no children listed on the public records from the re- marriage. I am seeking now which area in Ireland that James (Jimmy) was from, and the ship he travelled on. Some of Percy's siblings ' Brownie ', Pearl, Gordon, Mary.. and more. All long since died. Brownie was the last, and she died in Edmonton several years ago.
