Hi There,
The ancestor I am looking for is MERCIER, Emile Isaie. He was born 27 JUL 1896 in Maniwaki, Quebec, Canada. His parents were MERCIER, Alphonse and BROUILLARD, Catherine.
I have found my ancestor in the 1901 Census living with his parents and siblings in Maniwaki, Quebec.
I found my ancestor in the 1921 Census living with his step-father, mother and 1 sibling in Maniwaki, Quebec, Canada.
I have WW! and WW!! records for this person as well.
I am stuck on the 1911 Census. I have went through the census page by page for the District of Wright and the Sub-Districts of Maniwaki and Maniwaki Indian Reserve and have found no mention of him, his parents or siblings.
I expanded my search through ancestry to see what I would come up with and I found an interesting census for a person that I believe may very well be who I am looking for.
I thought I would type it out here and see what others think or critique my reasonings.
I found MERCIER, Emile in the census for Head, Nipissing, Ontario. This person is listed as a lodger with an occupation of Driver and place of employment as River He is living in a home with the KUNSCH family as well as numerous other lodgers.
Now where it gets interesting is that I found a person with the same name and occupation as my person of interest's brother living as a lodger in the same house.
The birthdate for the brother adds up exactly but the birthdate for my ancestor is a bit off. his confirmed birthdate is 27 JUL 1896 but in this census his birthdate is listed as AUG 1895.
From my research I am ASSUMING that they were log drivers or that they may have been part of the Porcupine Gold Rush that was occurring at the time.
Could these two people possibly be the people I am looking for? My gut says that it is but in genealogy research you need proof not gut feeling.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you all!
