Great info,Shannon. Yes Darby Kealey was my maternal, great great grandfather. Darby started a farm on land which is now Hull Quebec. His son Thomas (my gr. grandfather) was the first non-First Nations baby born in that area. Now, I did not know of the McCabe list and the connection of Jeremiah(Darby) to Queeens County, Mayo,Coulo for 2 males, one female. Much appreciated, ron

Family ID #591 - Nicholas Hayes and Margaret Flynn wed 22 June, 1874.

My g-grandfather Patrick Flynn of Low was the brother of Mary Flynn who wed Nicholas Hayes. This is the first time I've seen her named Margaret. She died in March 1875, I've often wondered if it was in childbirth. Her parents were Dennis and Julia Egan Flynn of Ireland who came to Low, Quebec.

I've never been able to trace Nicholas Hayes after this, and wondered if he moved to the US.

Any information would be appreciated,
Thanks, CY

My grandmother kept that blue booklet too bless her heart. All of the little pencil marks she put by names have traced out as family.

There is an updated book out on the St. Martin's material, it may be about $25. I think it is supposed to have headstone pictures as well. St. Camillus also has a historical booklet out.

Then this might be exciting for you!

The McCabe List was a list among Colonel By's papers that was discovered by Irish researcher John McCabe in 1985.

The list was completed in February 1829 in the vicitity of Bytown and listed 700 families. The intention of the list was to document family members who were still in Ireland who could potentially come to Canada.

The list has name, county, parish, townland, children and relative names. It has helped many people find their link directly back to Ireland.

There are two "Kealy"s on the list.

There is a "Darby" who could be your "Darcy".

The information is as follows:

KEALY, Queens Co, Mayo, Coulo 2,1,3 (Males,Females,Total)

His two brothers in law with families Thomas, Connolly, and James Nash living at Coulo in the Queens County, they are known to Mr. FitzMaurice of Coulo.

Let me know if the timing matches when your Kealeys came.

Shannon
Hi Shannon, I have the Martindale book, but I don't think I've seen the 1968. My good first cousin Dennis Kealey has done some comprehensive research. We're pretty solid on the pedigreed chart up to Darcy(Jeremiah) Kealey, but we can't prove his birthplace in Ireland. I think it's County Tipperary, but that guess and $1.25 will get me a coffee at MacDonalds. Is there any info you're tracing in which I could help.? ron

Now Cy,why can't an historian every day get a letter like yours which is bursting with new information? First, thank you, and have you read these "books"? Kissing Time Away by Gerard Morris Kealey(Amazon); and The Kealey,Lawliss,Gleason,Foley and Brown Families of Venosta and Low, by Laurel Doucette.? In the latter, I see Mary Anne Kealey married to John Cuddihy and their 9 children. This info is yours if you wish. Thomas and Sarah are my great grandparents and I have a lot of information on them. Have you ever been able to trace the Kealeys back to County Killarney in Ireland? So good to hear from you. ron

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

My ggg-grandparents are Thomas Kealey and Sarah Darcy, the line coming through their daughter Mary Ann Kealey who wed John Cuddihey and lived in Aylwin.

I've been trying to sort out Gatineau Ryans, and was working on some unknown pictures from Wisconsin that my McCormicks & Flynns in Minnesota and Low, Qc had kept. Just this fall I made a match to one a lady had for her grandparents. I placed the wedding portraits in my McCormick Drew Flynn maternal tree on ancestry.

The wedding couple is of Mary Kilcoyne ( 1880 - 1967) daughter of John Kilcoyne and Sarah Ann Daly, and the groom is Patrick Francis Ryan ( 1879 - 1968), son of John Patrick Ryan and Susan McNeff/McNiff. The date was 18 Sept 1907 at St. Martin's, but the wedding portraits were taken in WI.

Is this your line ? The lady researching has more unknown Ryan photos.

This Ryan couple seems to have been in Quebec, then to Wisconsin, then died in Manitoba.

all for now, thanks CY

Marny: Thanks for the reply. I will send u an invite so you can view my McDonald tree. The Fetherstonhaugh's are all in the Ottawa, S.E. Ontario area. Unfortunately they are not all talking to each other. I have been trying to get pictures of everyone but it is a losing battle. Regards. Fred

Hi there - this is my family line! My mom is Mavis Nee Kidd O'Neil - her mom was Viola nee Gardiner Kidd (married to John Kidd RCMP) - Viola's mother was Frances Fetherstonhaugh married to George Gardner. Viola was born at that homestead in Cantley Quebec (still standing). Frances - her father was THOMAS FETHERSTONHAUGH - who was fist married to Roxanna Landon (UEL) but she died in 1884. In 1885 Thomas married Agnes Churchill widow of Robert Allen from Hull. I just recently found an obit notice for Thomas (July 28 1909) but have no idea where he is buried. Agnes is buried at the old Protesant cemetery - most of my maternal line is buried there. Hoping we can touch base and compare information - home email is ****??oneilm@rogers.com***?? (remove the * and ?'s) - thank you for connecting. -- Also have been emailing with Jennie Faraday - Mable the youngest daughter and sister my Great Gram Frances

I'm trying to complete my family tree (Brown-Wilson) and I have been stuck experiencing great difficulty with obtaining information on my great grandfather on my mother's side of the family.

I know Alfred Wilson, was born October 3, 1899 and died April 19, 1963.

His first wife, my great grand mother, Rebecca Chilcott passed away in 1933, they had a daughter, my grand mother, Gladys Freida Brown (nee: Wilson) in 1927.

His second wife I don't know much about other than her name was Marjorie Morris.

His second marriage he had two other daughters, Catherine and Virginia.

My great grand father owned his own shoe store for many years on Bank Street in Ottawa, Ontario Canada and fit my grand mother's older children with shoes before selling his business and eventually working for the Bank of Nova Scotia again on Bank Street in Ottawa, Ontario Canada prior to either retirement or his passing.

I'm looking for a Certificate of Death, his location of burial and/or headstone picture, and a Certificate of Marriage for him and my great grand mother, Rebecca Chilcott.

Hello Roger

Unfortunately I have never learned French.

I am interested in the surnames Thompson, Lang, Elder.

My great, great grandfather had two brothers who moved to the Northfield area in the mid to late 1850's / 1860's. They were John Thompson who married Maria Lang (known children are Martha, Elizabeth, William, Edward, John, and Suzanne)and Thomas Thompson who married Isabella Elder (known children are William, Eliza, Thomas, Margaret Louisa, Emma, Joseph and Fred).

Both John and Thomas and their spouses are buried in the Northfield area but their familes are largely a mystery. Any assistance with these familes would be greatly appreciated.

I am in Calgary and if I can assist with any research here please let me know.

Thelma

In my tracing the Vanasse family I have started to trace those families with a Vanasse as a mother . Charles Louis Bernard married Elisabeth Vanasse in 1888 in Pembroke On . Both have Maniwaki and Indian ties . I cannot find this couple in the census records . Children of this couple were mostly born at L'Annonciation Quebec .

1. CHARLES LOUIS BERNARD (JEAN BAPTISTE and Angelique Simon ) was born Abt. 1860 in Petit Nation Quebec, and died Aft. 1905. He married ELISABETH VANASSE 20 Nov 1888 in St Columbkille Pembroke Ontario, daughter of EUSTACHE VANASSE and ANGELIQUE LACROIX. She was born 18 Sep 1872 in Maniwaki Quebec, and died Aft. 1905.

Children of CHARLES BERNARD and ELISABETH VERTEFEUILLE VANASSE are:
i.	CHARLES LOUIS3 SIMON-BERNARD, b. 17 Sep 1889, Pembroke Ontario.
ii.	MARIE ANGELIQUE SIMON-BERNARD, b. 22 Jul 1891, La Passe Renfrew ON.
iii.	MARGUERITE CELINA SIMON-BERNARD, b. 31 Jan 1893, La Passe Renfrew ON.
iv.	ELIZABETH SIMON-BERNARD, b. 25 Feb 1894, La Passe Renfrew ON.
v.	MARIE JULIE CELINA SIMON-BERNARD, b. 27 Dec 1896, L'Annonciation Quebec.
vi.	LOUIS JOSEPH SIMON-BERNARD, b. 22 Feb 1898, L'Annonciation Quebec.
vii.	MARIE GEORGIANA ELISABETH SIMON-BERNARD, b. 08 Apr 1900, L'Annonciation Quebec.
viii.	MARIE ROSE ANNA VICTOIRE SIMON-BERNARD, b. 12 Feb 1904, L'Annonciation Quebec.
ix.	EUGENE AUGUSTIN SIMON-BERNARD, b. 10 Dec 1905, L'Annonciation Quebec.

Secondly I have found another couple in the Maniwaki records of Charles Louis Racine and Elisabeth Vanasse . I have found two children born at Maniwaki in 1902 and 1907 . I can't find this family in any census record . Charles Louis Racine died in 1924 at Maniwaki . No known marriage record either for this couple .

I'm thinking that maybe this is the same couple .Still can't find either couple in the census .
Uncles Pete and John have passed, but my Dad and aunts are still with us. Aunt Claire celebrated her 83 year this past April. Aunt Jackie (Ghyslaine) is now 80 and Dad is 79.

Marie Colette would probably be aunt Colette, uncle Pete's wife, who both passed several years ago.

Can I ask who are Steve's parents? Most of the family lives in the Ottawa area, where abouts are you? We have family get togethers 4 x a year, please email me in response, rather than post on this board. if you would like to be invited to our events, I can add you to our mailing list, we are a very social bunch!
Anne-Marie
MrsCrotty@gmail.com

Anne-Marie

James Brennan (f-Paul Brennan, m-Mary Walsh of Carlow, Ireland) married Catherine Brennan (f-Robert Brennan, m-Catherine Brady) in Ottawa, Notre Dame April 1858.

I have James' siblings which match names on later Wright Township census reports with his wife Catherine. However, when I research their births, the mother is listed as Catherine Houston. So far I have not found birth records listing Catherine Brennan as mother with James as father.

Is there anyone else researching this line and can shed some light on this for me?

Aloha

Found more info on Guillaume St-Pierre and Angele Brazeau.

Guillaume Brayer dit St-Pierre arrived in Cumberland, Ontario between 1852 and 1854. He was born between 1821 and wed Angle Brazeau daughter of Toussaint Brazeau and Angelique Ouellet on 31 January 1843 in the Saint-Clement de Beauharnois, Montreal, Quebec. Guillaume was the son of Guillaume Brayer dit St-Pierre and Marie-Anne Jamme who where married in 1820 in Sainte-Genevieve-de-Pierrefonds, Montreal, Quebec. His Great-grandfather was Pierre Brayer dit St-Pierre from Saint-Servan, Saint-Malo, Bretagne, France. Pierre married Francoise Thibault in 1739 in Pointe Claire, Montreal, Quebec.
Guillaume and Angele Brazeau owned land on the 4th Concession, lot no. 2 in Cumberland, Ontario. In the 1861 Census, Guillaume had 10 children. Angele had a sister named Priscille Brazeau who was married to Felix DAoust, son of Joseph Daoust and Elizabeth Lalonde in Beauharnois, Quebec in 1841. Angele also had a brother named Andre Brazeau who had married Sophie Morin in Beauharnois in 1841.
In 1865 Census Guillaume and Angel were establisehd in Aylmer, Quebec with his 8 children
Thanks for the info.

I've found that Guillaume and Angel had 11 or 12 more children. Including my G-grandfather Abraham.

But your right, the variations on the Bregue, Brayer, Breille, etc names are ridiculous. It's the main thing that's killing me in the search. I think that Guillaume was a fourth generation farmer in Hull, Quebec. That his father Guillaume was a son of another Guillaume, who was son of Pierre Guillaume. I think.... Martin Breille is the father from France.

I also have the same memorial card I had a cousin that was doing alot of ancestry. Well before I ever began. When he passed all the info came to my Aunt and when she passed it all came to me because I had begun working on the family. Great memorial card. Wish they still did them that way. It has so much info on it. Perfect. I have no idea who my cousin got the card from. I know he was in Canada a few times or maybe here in US not sure.

Any help in finding any information on Guillaume:

Born in Hull in 1824 married to Angele (Angeline?) Brazeau (Brasseau?)

I've seen him identified as William and Quilliam.
He may also be called Pierre Guillaume St Pierre. sometimes I've seen the name as (dit?) "Pierre Guillaume Breille-St_Pierre". I'm not sure its the same person or not.
He was a farmer and they had 8 children; Joseph, Samuel, Michel, Desineau, Angeline, Rosalie, Flora and Abraham (Whom I'm related to.)
