Thompson family of Masham/Wakefield
I am researching the family of George and Mary Ann Thompson who came to Canada from Ireland in 1845 with at least four sons James, Robert, William and Alexander and settled in the Masham/Wakefield area of Quebec. Three sons moved to Bruce County in Ontario around 1870. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Thompson family of Masham/Wakefield
I don't have any ancestry for either of them and I only had the one son, William and his daughter, etc. in my file. will be adding the three other sons you mentioned and the date of emigration. If you don't already have any info on William, let me know but I assume you have more than I do.
I visited two cemetaries last weekend, Hall Cemetary in Wakefield and Rupert cemetary near Masham. Lots of distant relations!

I have lots of relatives in Quebec, I live in Ont. Looking for info on Herman Thompson 1890-1967 married to Lillian Allan 1895-1995{only child}.They are my mom's mom and dad. Herman's father was also Herman Thomsen 18 -1898/99 married to Wilhemina Holme 18 -1925/6. Emigrated from Broij, Norway about 188? and ran a general store in Montreal. I am also looking for Lillin Allan's history..Robert w. Re: Thompson family of Masham/Wakefield
I have a James Thompson who came from Ireland to Quebec with at least one brother and maybe two brothers and their Mother. The Mother drowned when she fell from a boat somewhere in the Gatineau area of Quebec. The son James married Matilda Mullins who came from Londonderry with her brother George. George stayed in that area marrying Elizabeth Fournier and raising a family. He was a doctor in the LaPeche area. Most of the Thompsons moved to Lemberg Saskatchewan aroung 1886.

Re: Thompson family of Masham/Wakefield
I recently discovered that an ancestor of mine, Stewart Smith, married Jane Ann O'Hara from Masham. They were married Nov. 7, 1851 at Wakefield in the Methodist church. Any connection here?

Re: Thompson family of Masham/Wakefield
Do you know anything more about the O'Hara line? We have a John James O'Hara who came to Quebec form likely Armagh Ireland, married to Sarah Ann McCaffery about 1837. They both died in Quebec. Their children were George(b. c 18380, James William (b 1844), Robert (b 1845), Mary Ann (b. 1846), Joseph (b c1849-1853) and Elizabeth (b 1853). Elizabeth is my connection and she married William Richmond Thompson in 1874. Elizabeth was born in Masham, Quebec. Her siblings were born in the North Gower area of Ontario. doris
