Re: Cree surnames at Rupert House 1944
Hi, Why not go directly to < www.automatedgenealogy.com>, choose 1901, to search Nawachekeshkwayash. Québec was smaller in 1901 when James Bay falls under The Territories. I was surprised how many soundex variations the surname Nawachekeshkwayash gives, you may have more luck than I did finding the lady. Please give it a try.

Re: Cree surnames at Rupert House 1944
Joanne: I am the great great grandson of Marguerite Nakijikokye and John Wedderburn Simpson. Marguerite married a second time to a James Shearer Hunter whom worked as a clerk for the Hudson Bay Co., Marguerite had two children Georges and Angele from her first marriage,Georges had children and Angele did not, she was the cook on the famous boat they called "the Meteor" She also had children with James, and I believe there descendents are registered Indians at Wolf Lake (Temiscaming). Now I do have alot of info on the Simpson and Hunter files but would prefer to know your intentions or curiousty about my grandmother. Some of the docs I have are not available anymore, and thats the way its going to stay, unless I have sufficient reason to believe such requests for information are of a valid nature. Chi Meegwetch for listening to my words, and I await your response. Georges
