John Davis, born 14 July 1811 in Glascow, Scotland, was married on 14 November 1840 in Montreal to Mary Sissons, born 6 Dec 1818 in Yorkshire, England.

They had several children, all probably born in Montreal. In 1875, this family moved to Middlesex County, Massachusetts. They appear on the 1880 census with children:

Mary Jane, born 1857
Wilhemina, born about 1861
John W., born about 1865.
