Bradger / Tanguay Grandmother's Origin

Surnames: Bradger / Limoges / Tanguay
Hi, I'm completely new to researching family trees. Here is my dilemma, I'm trying to search for my Paternal Grandmother's origin. You see, her parents and siblings had a different surname than her. No one would ever talk about it and I'd like to try to find out where she actually came from but haven't the slightest idea where to start. My father told me that when his mother was young, there was a woman from England who would call every now and then to enquire about my grandmother. He knows nothing else...any advice? She has a Canadian birth certificate, but if she was adopted, then a new canadian birth certificate would have been issued right? However, if she just has a different surname than everyone else, it would be possible that she had a different father with the last name of Bradger right? Here is the information I have...
Name: Ida Louise Bradger (She married Rene Limoges)
DOB: around 1930
Birthplace: Montreal (according the the birth certificate)
Parents: Ernest and Yvonne Tanguay
