Hi would anyone be able to tell me how to find the old St Mary (Marie) cemetery in or near Marieville, Rouville, Canada. I spent hours yesterday going around in circles and everyone that tried to help me sent me back to the same cemetery, Soul Chemin Jesus, on Rou Saint Cesaire. I am looking for burial of Pierre Loiselle and is said to be in St Mary Cemetery in Marieville. The one in town on St Cesaire is too knew but one person told me there were two cemeteries. Thanks for any help you might have. Alan Lathrop, Bristol VT

Hello,

I was wondering what the date of death was for the Pierre loiselle that you were looking for. I was in the soul chemin jesus(sp?)cemetery today looking for my ancestors grave and stumbled across a marker with a DOD of 1917. Please feel free to email me as we took a picture of it.

Thank you but that is the wrong one. Pierre Loisel 1793/1845 and his wife Marie Demers-Dumais. That is a pretty common name in that area and my Pierre seems to be missing. They became Wisell when the family came to Vermont but I have not seen the Wisell name in Canada.
I would of thought that with 15 children that someone would know where he was buried. I am going to try and get back up there this summer. Sure wish I had studied my French more when in high school.

We found a little cemetery behind a baptist church on the road in to town behind the Eglise evalgelique baptiste chruch, but the grave markers were only back to 1850's. I am running into the same issue with my ancestors, found the headstone of our grandfather 4 generations back then nothing before that.

Good luck! :)
